I was pissed when I first discovered that it wasn't playing at any of my local theaters, but fortunately it came on one of the cable On Demand channels. It's basically Resident Evil with space-ships.
Spoiler:
Coal-fired space-ships!!!

OKLAHOMA!!!

It was an alright movie.

But then again it's been awhile since I've seen a B-grade movie. Mutant Chronicles definitely fits in that category.

Mutant Chronicles reminded me a lot of the Dungeons and Dragons movie. There was loads of enthusiasm and a lot of love for the subject matter but ultimately the execution just wasn't there.

The line comparing it to the Resident Evil series was bang on. Except, Resident Evil was made as a brainless, happily incoherent action movie to showcase stunts and special effects. Mutant Chronicles was brainless, unintentionally incoherent action movie with far too limited a budget to produce impressive or interesting stunts or effects.

It's a shame, because the Mutant Chronicles setting is pretty cool, but nothing survives crappy production.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.
