I have some bits of a wood elf army (the battalion set+ noble). I was wondering what sort of options there are for expansion. Wood elves obviously tend to be more shooty, but I was wondering if there was any sort of tactic/army setup that allowed for a more balanced strategy.

Any advice about specific units to pick up would be appreciated.

Waywatchers.

A good Wood Elf army can pick and choose its combats, Waywatchers can either march-block or kill off things with accurate bowfire.

Use some of your Glade Guard as scouts. Skirmishers are key to Wood Elf tactics.

Also, Glade Riders too.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Are you going more with elves or forest spirits?

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)

I think mostly elves. Forest spirits seem kind of costly for losing their ward save to magic, particularly because a lot of flaming weapons are magic.

That said, elves seem kind of flimsy in any sort of combat, even the lords have T3.

I do like dryads, though, as they aren't flammable and are core units with more integrity than that of damp tissue paper.

There also seems to be potential in Warhawk Riders, but I lack the tactical cunning to see any advantage gained from the hit-and-run rule that justifies having considerably larger than normal birds of prey (not quite giant) that are 40 points a pop, but have naught but T3, Armor N/A to prevent a couple well placed arrows putting you 120 points in the hole.

So I guess I don't have a real preference as to elves vs tree spirits.

War Dancers are a nice unit to use to cover the flanks of a skirmishing Dryad unit.

Eagles give you the ability to bait and flee or redirect charges for 50 points and 20 dollars
through mail order. The only reason not to take Eagles is if you're planning on using your
Rare slots for max Treeman units.
