Hey guys,

Here is my termie captain. He is my first painted HQ model. I used some of the advice that has previously been given here to some effect, and I think he looks decent for table top. I tried my hand at highlighting, drybrushing, washing, etc.

C&C as always

Thanks!

Wow, nice work on the static grass! I wish I could afford some.... sigh. All I can afford to base my models with is PVA and potting soil pinched from the wife's plants.

The paintjob is nice too. The highlighting could use another lighter shade, but I suck at highlighting so don't listen to me...

Thanks! I'm looking for a miniature pin vise drill thing. I'm heading to a model shop tomorrow to find one (as well as return their defective hot foam cutter)

Yeah the actual vise is the hardest thing to find. Normally, hardware stores carry them and they should be only about 6 bucks, but lately I haven't been able to find any for the life of me. So I made one using:
Xacto knife extra handle -2 bucks
epoxy gel glue, dries super strong - 3 bucks
Drill bit, 1/16th inch 1 buck

Just tighten the handle around the bit as far as it will go, and then slather the thing with the epoxy gel glue. Wait for it to cure for a day, and you have a nice little drill to use. Don't break the bit though, cuz you can't replace it. Only go this route if you can't find a pin-vice like me.

So I made one instead, and paid half that much.

The lighting gives him a weird glow that makes it hard to see the paint on him. It's has a yellow aura; could we get some new pics to see the results?

@ Karmaiko: I finished last night and was kinda excited. Now here he is with the light of day!

@FoxPhoenix135: The static grass is from GF9 from the warstore for like $3. I've based probably 30 tactical marines and 6 terminators and I've barely used any.

Nice work. Only thing I could suggest would be to do some highlights on the brown.
