So, I'm finally in the home stretch for getting my Shadowsword kit done. I'm the type of guy that can't help but use every part in the kit to make the options interchangeable, but this one was kind of a doozy! At first glance it looks like it'd be easy to make everything swappable but after messing with it for a while it actually takes a bit of planning and patience. I say patience because I took a kit that should've taken a weekend to build and made it into a month long process.

The exploded view. As you can see, it still needs paint and some bits attached.

As a Stormlord:

As the variant with the indirect fire:

As the Shadowsword (without hull heavy bolters and with lascannons replaced by targeters)

Of course, this is all pure insanity since I really only ever plan on running the thing as the Shadowsword anyways. It's a compulsion. I'll update as I get more done and I'll probably just make a how-to article for those as obsessive as I am.

Thanks. Actually, I made a mold of the targeter thingy that sits on top of the Stormlord's Super-Mega-Heavy-Bolter dealy. Then I just made two resin casts of it and put some styrene tubing on the botom of them.

Looking good ! What colour are you going to be painting it and what is the plasticard for?

I know. I'm evil.
I saw weird stuff in that place last night. Weird, strange, sick, twisted, eerie, godless, evil stuff. And I want in.

Oh it won't be too exiting. It'll end up with this scheme:

When I say it's just basecoated I just mean I still need to add decals and detail paint, then weather and wash it to finish. There isn't any exposed plasticard on it. I painted the firing platform on the back of the thing white and then I blew out the color when I took the shots. I'll get some better pics when It's done.

Is any GW kit worth the money? Seriously though, I love the kit. I have never used a Shadowsword on the table though. I have used a StormLord (that I scratchbuilt before I knew they were releasing this kit, D'oh!)many times though. That thing is almost broken it's so good. Even if the shadowsword doesn't perform on the tabletop I'm still glad I bought it. I really like the kit. It'll be the same witht he Valkyrie. Even if it sucks I'll still be happy I've got the model.
