This is a general plea to the mods, as well as to the offenders and those like me who are sick of this garbage. I am getting tired of having to sift through countless posts of inane garbage, of people posting in swap shop to give their .02 about how such is overpriced or not worth it.

Do we not get enough of this immature behavior in the painting and army list forums? Are there so many people there who spend apparantly every waking hour getting off by bringing others down and announcing to the world their oh so important opinion that they have spilled over, to all places, Dakka Swap Shop???

This is a swap forum, not a place to pound your chest because someone is selling valkyries at retail price (OMG!!!!DAZ INSANES!!MUSTPOST!) or that you think their on the side painting business charges too much.

It is none of your business, unless you have something TRULY constructive to add.

PLEASE let us not turn Dakka into Warseer with 12 year olds posting LOLs and OMGs at everything because mommy didn't pay enough attention to them.

Maybe we should implement something so only mods and OPs can post. At the most, the only response that should be added is "pm sent" and all business should be taken to PM to reduce clutter and bumping a thread that doesn't need to be bumped. Maybe then a post length limit after the first is in order. Just enough to type PM sent.

So posting that something seems like it might some form of a scam or suggesting that someone is pricing an item too high/too low for its value? Or Even asking for someone to post prices with their lists?

How about making a general guideline for posting in here, such as:

QTY | ITEM | PRICE

Followed by:
Shipping Costs (FLAT/Based on Location/Included in Price Above)
Haggle (Yes/No)
Contact Method (PM/E-Mail)

And Moderating anyone that can't follow that.

And for the record, the just posting an eBay Link posts are far more annoying then any of the commentary posts to me.

Dakka is taking a caveat emptor attitude on the trades. It is not cogitating sttructuring the trades or posts. You can ask what the prices are or other information on the item/services, but commentary on the veracity of the trade is not helpful.

I find the ebay links irritating, if i wanted to buy on ebay i would go to ebay...i also find the stream of painting ads of late clutter up the swap shop section and seems to of resulted in less people posting want/have type trade ads.

Well, I'm glad for both, within reason!

I just purchased an item that was linked to from here off of ebay, and I probably would have never found it otherwise . It's nice to know when the painters/modellers on here are selling their stuff on ebay!

I also sent out a portion of my army to be painted in response to one of the ads!

And as far as have/wants go... I got a response to my haves and will be swapping for my one of my wants this week

I think as long as people respond within reason and with a little more common sense, things will go smoothly . Also, if this thread continues it will probably attract more of what we're all trying to avoid!

I think the sticky is enough, it's the first thing I saw when I logged in here and I read it immediately . However, it might be nice for it to be a little more specific or to give examples! I was kind of scratching my head to see if I'm violating the guidelines or not!

Think of it as a classified ad. You're either negotiating, or asking for more information. Most other posts are not relevant.
