While you're doing those repairs, you may want to fix your Tyrant. With a pair of Talons and a Venom Cannon he is a very confused HQ. 36" S8 3BS4 shots per round coupled with... 1 more attack in close combat. Swap out the Talons for a Strangler or swap the Cannon for Talons, just depending on what you're wanting it to do.

As stated previously, more Carnifex. Unless you thoroughly enjoy fielding amazingly huge pointsinks like the one you currently have, you'll be needing at least three more. Seriously, you can field two and a half elite carnifex or two heavy carnifex with points leftover for the price of that one big guy.

The first thing you may want to do is figure out what kind of list you want to build towards in 1500, 1750, 1850, and 2000 point matches. This will really help determine what to buy from here.

It depends on what you want to make your army into really. I found the army boxes were a pretty cool way to expand since it contains a little of everything. I have now bought 5 and I think thats me done, with the exceptions of more gaunts, more fexes, more genestealers and some more warriors - hold on.....

Of course if you have a specific list in mind then just simply buy those models. If you have not really figured that out yet then then army boxes are great.

right so I've now changed the tyrant for strangler and cannon as I was considering getting a fex and balrog wings to make a new tyrant anyway so thats done (with my current tyrant I can only put on things from the previous edition because thats when its from and the joints have changed since)

You might think about picking up another 2 carnifexes and magnetizing the arms so that you have some flexibilty to go with more CC models or add some heavy support.

You might also think about adding a Zoanthrope or three. It would add some nice synapse support.

Elites

1 lictor

I think you should get 1 more lictor. having only 1 lictor in an army is not really good. 2 is recommended minimum.

and your warriors you should improve on. devourers + scything talons is not a good mix. Take off the talons and either get 1 warrior with 2x talons and one with 2x devourers. or get more devourers and replace the talons so you get 2 warriors with 2x devourers.

Also get more warriors with deathspitters + talons they are good.

add 3 zoanthropes
and buy urself 2 more carnifexes 1 for heavy support and 1 for elite choice. I recommend a carnifex with venom cannon for heavy support and the elite one can be whatever you'd like.

O H I am in the Webway...

More Carnifexes! Your army sounds close to a kid I know at my local hobbylands, do you also have a biovore + a lot of sporemines lol?

That canifex has WAY WAY WAY to many upgrades, Thats a TON of points for one tyranid.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you

Ezekk I have never bought a biovore as they seem to be prety bad without a whole brood and have never realy appealed to me.

Akiyou have you got any tips on how to remove the arms without major damage? I will probably get another lictor as they seem to have good stats and due to popular demant I'm going to get more fexs

oh just out of interest what are peoples thoughts on the uses of zoanthropes

and thanks for all the help so far

Horrific Hive Tyrant

London (work) / Pompey (live, from time to time)

i would add:

a blast fex
3 thropes (pure anti-tank win)
another lictor.
a screamer killer fex or 2

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

In reference to the tyrant, check out the articles on them that are here on dakka. There really are only 2 viable builds of tyrants with 2 variations:

Dakka-tyrant

Stabby-tyrant

Then you can make either of those fly... That's about it.

The glancing rules really cripple the venom cannon as the MOST it can do to 99% of the vehicles found on the table now is immobilize it. You'll end up stunning vehicles 70% of the time, but that's only if you roll enough. For 40 points you spend on the cannon you could take it off and upgrade the stealers or add in a tyrant guard (if you can buy one).

Keep tyrants simple is my advice. A dakka-tyrant is 12 S4 or 5 shots that allow you to reroll EVERYTHING. I've had so much fun with them. Stabby-tyrant is basically 5 power weapons attacks that roll 2D6 for armour penetration.

Otherwise, in regards to the fexes, you can buy them cheap. Buy one complete box set and buy magnets. Then you can go to thewarstore.com and buy a fex for $26. I have 3 fexes and my tyrant which all have interchangeable weapons, which has saved me a ton of money.

You're off to a great start!

Tired of reading new rulebooks... Just wanting to play.

Either fill your heavy support up with more carnifex , or get zoanthropes . They'll be happy to go hunting with your tyrant.

Elite Tyranid Warrior

I would add in more fexes and maybe more warriors. Don't worry about Lictors, they suck with the current codex, even with 3 of them. While Thropes are acceptable AT, for the nid list, I would not by any means call them 'Anti-tank win', unlike most people seem to feel. They have to roll for psychic test, to his with BS3, then to penetrate, then the damage table. That is a lot of rolls you have to pass, and they only have 18" range.

That said, unless you have lots of fexes, they are your only choice for sufficient AT.

Right now, what you need the most is fexes.

You need thropes for tank hunting , or else you'll be stuck with carnifex with venom cannon.
