As some of you already know, WarFair is moving to the Chattannoga Choo Choo hotel in Chattanooga, TN for 2009. The dates for the event, June 5th - June 7th, fall on the anniversary of D-Day (June 6th). Although we would like to take credit for inspired planning, we actually decided on the date because it did not directly coincide with any other convention in the Southeastern states (that we are aware of) and then we realized we had gotten lucky (don't laugh, it happens...).

1. The WarFair.org website has details concerning the convention, but some highlights are listed below.
2. Convention rates for rooms in our host hotel will only be $86.00+tax (standard rate = $129+tax). Details for reservations and our group code are posted.
3. The Game Registration page now active. We have 17,000 sq ft of space, so let's get busy and get those games registered.
4. The web site has an Online Registration page. There is a discount for preregistration and gamemasters.
5. Run 2+ games and your admission to the convention is FREE.
6. The web site has a bulletin board system for discussions concerning tournaments and rules that everyone attending can easily locate.
7. Tournaments planned include, FoW (Nationals Qualifier), 40K, WH Fantasy, WH Ancients and War Machine.

Additionally, Chattanooga has lots of family oriented attractions. Bring the family and they can enjoy the sites and activities around Chattanooga while you attend the convention.

We would really like to see some more large scale scenarios for 40K, Fantasy, Ancients and Lord of the Rings registered. We have one large scale Apocalypse game registered and a large scale Warhammer Ancients battle set to go right now, but anything worth doing is worth overdoing.

how come you guys moved from atlanta? i moved to the area last year and found out about the con after it already happened and was looking forward to it this year. chattanooga is far enough that you'd have to get a room to go 2 days.

The simple answer is that unless you have at least $20,000.00 in your pocket that you don't mind risking, you can't afford convention space in Atlanta. Our convention last year only had about 2,500 square feet of space for gaming tables and it was all we could afford. We barely broke even and the room was crowded.

In Chattanooga (2 hours away), we got 17,000 square feet of space for the same amount of money and the Hotel rooms are only $86 a night (split between 4 friends and it's just over $20 a night). Our biggest problem will be that we may have too much room this time.

We expect we will lose some attendees from Atlanta, but we will gain some from Chattanooga, Memphis and Nashville. Additionally, we have room to grow in the new location. We have already reserved space for 2010.

is that price also valid for the further atlanta suburbs? i'd imagine that there would be a middle ground outside of the city proper. good luck with the con. i was just asking because i found out about the con after i moved here and was looking forward to going. chattanooga is a bridge to far for me unfortunately.

Unfortunately, anyplace within an hour of Atlanta is unaffordable. I live in Lawrenceville and Chattanooga was the closest place with reasonable rates.

On a more positive note. We are having more and more games being registered. Check out our website for currently registered games.

Only one week left before the start of WarFair 2009. It's not to late to register for running a game (run 2+ games and admission is free). We will be celebrating the 65th anniversary of D-Day with a Flames of War Nationals Qualifier with up to 40 players.

WarFair.org will be happy to add any gaming convention that wants to be listed onto the calendar system on the WarFair.org website. We are also happy to do a banner exchange with any other gaming convention. GameCon Memphis is already taking advantage of a banner exchange.

Just use the contact us page on the WarFair website to get started. We are running our own convention, but we would also like to be a resource for the gaming community in general.
