Got my Guard codex yesterday and I'm wondering about disembarking from the Valk.

There are rules for a special disembark used if it's gone flat out (you put one guy on any point the valk's flown over, roll for scatter like deep striking. If it scatters then everyone takes a dangerous terrain test. Anyone in impassible is squished). However, there's nothing relating to normal disembarking.

With the valk's base being approx 6" tall, how do you disembark within 2" of the hatches?

That's what I was thinking.

The fluff in the codex mentions rapelling out of the valk as it hovers (although presumably they don't know the difference between rapelling and fast-roping) so that makes sense.

What he said. This is what I am going to advocate when using/facing Valks/Vendys myself. The troopers are using ropes ( fluffwise ).
