Im posting this here because i dont have an account on dakkadakka.com and until recently have never visited it. There I have found reputation under question by onlainari in a game we recently almost had. I found the thread locked before i had the chance to have my defence heard, here is onlainaris side of the story:

some of what he has stated is true, some even under stating how hot under the collar i got by the end. Some of the parts are a complete lie and some bits (appealing to my side of the story) have been completely left out. here is my additions to the commentary

a) Like he admits, i missed the part where he stated he has never played this mission before
*) I am guilty of assuming he knew the rules

cool.gif There was no conversation about smoke BEFORE the nightfight discussion started.
*) He said words to the effect of "öhhhh, I was wondering why you did not pop smoke" and obviously did not see fit to remind me about smoke when i had the chance thinking either i was stupid or did not know the rule myself

c) After his realisation of nightfighting he stated that "had he known about night fight he would have kept everything off the board in reserve
*) I (as kindly as I could summon up) offer to let him do this. He declines in a continuous negative commentary of how i should have explained it all to him in the first place.

d) I state my vanguard are deepstriking right beside his battlesuits. He asks "are they doing their funky charge rule thing" I say, ÿes its heroic intervention" He gets defensive and says that i must state that thats what im are doing before i do it" I reply, "what the heck else are they going to be doing?".... (I know, scarcasm was not appreciated at this point in time) Then the scatter 3" nice and close to his suits all ready to goto town on them. about now he:

e) States that we should restart the game as we had barely started it. By now my temper is getting short with all of his negative chatter however i offer to restart the game. He starts to consider it whilst pretty much blaming me for his lack of knowledge of the nightfight rule. I tell him i feel like he thinks its all my fault for his lack of knowledge of the game. He tells me "ÿep and that he thinks im pretty lame for not explaining it". I reply (by now, I was not using a sympathetic tone but it was not offensive either) " Im sorry i didnt tell you about nightfight, I must have missed the part where you said you had not played this mission. He agreed that I had infact missed it and still thinks i should have told him about night fight (despite the fact that i didnt know he didnt know???? WTF?)
*) I AM guilty of assuming he knew the rules. I am guilty of not thinking about the whole game much because it was a "friendly game" and i was having other conversations at the same time with the dozen other people attending the club, having a fun time and messing about and generally not taking anything seriously. sheesh, i missed the part where he had not played the mission and i assumed that after the many years of playing 40k he would know what was going on.

about now he decides its not worth while going on with it, I agree. He packs up and leaves.



For my assumption i again, apologise.

I would answer no to both. He didnt know a rule, i didnt know to tell him about it.
Did i have a problem with him packing up and leaving? no not really, if it was not going to be fun then there really is no point to playing a game.

what I DO have a problem with is his public debate to plaster my reputation. That i have a serious problem with. Does he lack the kohunas to come talk to me like a man? would i like to play him again? never!

If steve is reading this i emplore him to come see me with a huge apology, not for the game that was no fun. for the public defacement he attempted to pull off on me.

Is dropping an issue too difficult? It was closed for a reason, its a flame thread. I have reported this one so it gets closed also.

I had already let him know to lock it

He agree he over reacted and apologized . Thread should be over , but some people chose to continue to flame it, thus lock was the right choice.

What more do you want out of the thread?

I may have been the one that closed it, I forget.

The thread would have been closed because there was flaming going on, there were other viewpoints not being heard, the Q had been asked and answered, and frankly Dakka is not the place for people argue about a private matter. So as She Who Must Be Obeyed would say,
