Hi guys, here's a stupid question, but I just can't quite confirm it to myself. I was wondering if the Astropath/Officer of the Fleet's special abilities regarding reserves are applicable when the CCS itself is in reserve. I would have assumed yes but I can't quite justify a model's ability coming in use when the model itself isn't on the board. Dunno why. And can anyone refer me to the rule which proves this (even though it's probably blindingly obvious).

Thanks.

Edit: Officer of the Fleet* =p Thanks Gwar

Yes there is no language saying otherwise and IIRC the last time this was covered that was the consensus.

Well, firstly its the Officer of the Fleet and Master of Ordnance.Thread title changed.

Secondly, both rules state "When Alive". Has a OotF/Astropath in reserve been destroyed or removed as a casualty? No, so they are alive, so their effect works.

Ok, thanks guys. I just thought that this argument would probably come up in our local gaming group as in our last tournament, I convinced a player that his farseer coming in from reserve couldn't cast a psychic power because he (she?) technically wasn't on the board at the time of casting (beginning of turn). Different situation, I know, but hey. Looking back on it, I was probably wrong, but lets not go into that...

Actually, you are right there. Eldar Psychic powers Specifically state you must cast the at the beginning of the movement phase (other than the shooty ones). Reserves do not come on at the beginning of the movement phase, they are the first movements you do during the movement phase, a very big difference. Once reserves come on, it's no longer the beginning of the movement phase is it, its part way through.
