if and only if, you roll double ones on the orders and select "First Rank Fire! Second Rank fire!" can you fire 6 shots per guardsman...

Discuss...

Note: the codex never says that you cannot pick the same order twice, however can this result in a squad firing twice in a single phase.

Hmm, how about... Wrong?

Read the rules for orders on page 29.
Page 29 wrote:Orders cannot be issued to squads that [...] have already received an order that turn (whether or not that order was successful or not).

You roll a Double one, and you get a an additional auto-Ld test-passing order to another unit that had not received an order yet, you don't get to issue a second order to the same unit.

Completely wrong - the rules for orders states "the unit may not do anything else that turn" once an order has been succesfully given to them.

Gwar's right, the snake eyes roll grants the officer a bonus, not the unit who made the check.

Even if you could give the same squad the same order, it would not allow them to fire six times per Guardsman. It does not give them an additional Shooting phase. It simply allows them to fire one more shot than normal when they do fire.

To me it seems like the extra order could be given to the same squad as the first one was. Sure it said they could not act further, but then the more specific rules for a double one would override this restriction.

And I feel something about the choice of phrase "Once the order has been completed, the officer can immediately issue a further order (there is no need to make a test)" makes me think it's an additional order to the same unit.

While I definitely can see why you guys are reading it a certain way, I would hardly call it a clear cut ruling and sadly would personally see it added to the list of things which really need clarifying to know the correct way to play them.

Sorry mate, it is cut and dry. The Officer issues another order Immediately, that's all well and good, but the restriction of "Orders cannot be issued to squads that [...] have already received an order that turn (whether or not that order was successful or not)" means that you cannot issue the order to the same squad that rolled a double one.

*edit* It's late and apprently I'm reading things in posts that aren't there...

There's no way to support your conclusion, since the rules for giving orders specifically prohibits the same unit being able to be issued a second one. It's as cut and dry as tactical marines getting a 3+ save.

I don't have my codex yet, so i can't look it up, but who takes the leadership test for the order?

If its the Receiver, why would them getting the message loud give the ability for another squad to get an order? It seems like a better idea would have been to have this pattern:

Commander gives the Order
Alpha Team receives the order Loud and Clear ([1], [1]) and tells Bravo Team to do the same.

The Idea is that Bravo Team is out side of the Commander's communication range, but within Alpha Team's.

I'm sorry, but if you have not seen the codex, why are you even posting? If you think you could have done the codex better, go get a Job over in Nottingham and get onto the Dev team for the 6th edition Guard codex.

Now, to answer your question, the unit receiving the order takes the test, and if Snake Eyes are rolled, it is assumed that the Unit performed the order so quickly, the Officer was able to order a second unit in the time it normally takes him to order 1 about.

Wow Gwar! As usual, you provide me with a concise and prompt response that makes everything clear... Thank you...

Ok, I cannot actually tell, due to the toneless media that is text, and because it is 0810 and I have had no sleep, are you being sarcastic or not?

Begin No Sarcasm Zone*

No, there is no sarcasm in my post. You really do make it clear that the commander gives an order to a unit so quickly that he can give another order to a different unit.

Thank you for answering my post because you sum things up well. Thank you everyone for answering the post and allowing me to sleep at night with out the fear of a double "First Rank Fire! Second Rank Fire!" from a single unit.

Gwar makes so much sense, I think that he will be in a higher tax bracket soon.

If Gwar is wrong I do not want to even know what is right...

End No Sarcasm Zone*

Forgiveness Please!!!! I didn't realize not having the codex in front of me or asking questions was such a horrible offense.

I have looked at the Codex, my LGS didn't get their full order in on release day and asked if I would mind them holding onto my copy as a store copy.

But thanks for answering my question while still being a dick
