Okay, I bought 3 Valks, and am using them as 1 fast choice.

I have 3 (seperate) elite units.

I want the each of the elite units to be transported by a Valk.

Some people are saying that the 3 Valks, since it is 1 fast choice, MUST stay together and can not work indavidually...

What do you say?

He specifically said he was "using them as 1 fast choice." They are a squadron, and need to maintain vehicle coherence of 4".

If the Valkyries are taking up 1 Fast Attack Slot, they are a squadron and MUST remain within 4" of each other at ALL times. You can, however, have 3 separate Units embarked on them (So you could have, for example, 3 Infantry Squads or 1 with Vets, 1 with Storm Troopers and 1 with Ratlings if you wanted)

That would require clarification: You can purchase 6 ten-man squads as a single troops chouce, but they operate as seperate units. If its that ambiguous you should read the entry more closely: if you still can't figure it out, call up GW cutomer service.

What? If you have a Squadron of 3 Valkyries, and a Platoon of Command + 6 Infantry, you can keep the whole platoon in reserve and have 3 squads mount up no problem, you then roll 1 dice for the whole lot (Platoon rules say you roll one dice for all squads, transport rules say you roll one dice for Squad+transport, so you have to roll one dice for the whole lot). If you pass, everything (including the Valks) come on, if you fail, you fail. There is another thread I started that deals with the more complicated multi platoon situation though if you are up for a long read

It actually is clarified on pg. 29 Under the paragraph "Vehichle Squadrons"

Valkyrie Assault Carrier Squadron..............X Points per model

Composition:
Vehicle squadron of 1-3 Valkyries

Seems pretty clear cut to me.
