Me and My father are in an arguement over the Space Marine Thunderfire cannon.( His) Actually, a few arguements.

A. He claims that it does not require LOS to fire at my units.
B. He claims that if he fires at a building my units are in or near, it will hit them too, without even aiming at my units. Aiming at the building.
C. That the thunderfire cannon can fire without the techmarine.
D. That his precious cannon can kill an entire army alone.

Could you all please help us decide these arguements? It woudl be very kind if you would. Thank you.

Rules for artillery are found on page 55 of the main rulebook. ABC are all false. D could be true - unlikely but possible.

A - both the gun and the crew needs LOS.
B - the gun must fire at a valid target, a unit with wounds or AV
C - laughter is in order.

I love my Thunderfire Cannon as much as the next guy, but... Yeah. Wrong on all accounts. The rules for artillery (which is the type of unit the Thunderfire Cannon is) are on page 55, as stated previously by Spetulhu.

Aren't there rules for destroying buildings? I know they have armor values and such, but I've never actually read at how they are shot/destroyed. Wouldn't it be possible that he could target the building, on the level the models are placed? Again I haven't read that whole section so I'm fairly certain its not feasable, but hey who knows.

Buildings are treated the same way as vehicles, except that they have the same AV on all sides and that they are immoble all the time.

If you choose to use the rules for enclosed buldings they are pretty much just an immobile vehicle, meaning you shoot at / destroy them the same way you do a vehicle.

Just like a vehicle, you cannot target the models inside the building.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

The eye of terror.

He's probably confusing Blast weapons with Template weapons.

Template weapons (flamers, redeemer cannons, etc) can cause D6 hits to the unit inside if the template touches a fire point on the building.

Blast weapons (frag missiles, battle cannons, thunderfire cannons, etc.) do not share this property with template weapons.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

Good spotting, if this is the case point out to him the things used for resolving blasts are never called templates in 5th and are instead "blast markers"

But they WERE called Templates. Even the shining example of perfection like myself occasional still call them Blast templates

Well... technically they still are "templates" even though the game uses the term "template" and "marker" to separate them in game mechanics.
