What I would like to know is if it would be possible to make moulds for casting from sculpey modelling clay?

If so what would be the restrictions?

Any help much appreciated

Are you talking about using the suclpey to make the mould? Or making a mould from a sculpey creation?

He pretty clearly means molds FROM sculpey.

As far as I know, no. I guess you could, but they would only be usable one time, and therefore not very effective. The sculpey would either A) warp if you didn't bake it, and distort the original or B) break when you tried to remove the cast from the mold.

There's a flexible sculpey variety. I actually have loads of it, but I've never tried using it. It'd basically destroy the original on baking, depending on what the original was made of...

There is a tutorial on how to do this, done by Scibor. Linksey... http://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,sculpting.php?id=571

Thanks captain jack for that tutorial.
To clarify I would like to make a mould out of sculpey to bake and then cast metal parts from. I have soft metal for casting and the bit I want to replicate would not need undercutting.
