Hey everyone, with my match fast approaching i wanted to ask about instant kills.

The weapon in question is the Kroot mercs equivilent of the powerfist, now powerfists double the strength correct ?

so if this is the case does that mean necrons (being my foe) will not get their WBB save or will they.

The same goes for power weapons do they also ignore that save ?

cheers
Wolf

If your strength doubles their toughness you inflict instant death. So if your strength equals their toughness and is then doubled by a powerfist or whatever then yes it will double their toughness and you will ID them. Remember they also get IDed by things that ignore armor i believe. However remember that res orbs negate this, and your opponent will have them.

Always 1 on the crazed roll.

Simple answer is yes. Double Toughness = Instant Death.

Yeah...was there something confusing about the main rulebook or the necron codex?

It was the necrons codex , i've had a few different people say it differently for the same weapon so i wanted to clear that up

cheers !

Another tip on necrons they will have resurection orbs there always on the lord so i would try my best if i was you i would shoot the squad with him in it and kill him as fast as you can.

Might be a problem as i am playing kroot mercs using the kompletely kroot codex so my plan is to assault him completely i have enough power fists on my 3 woun shapers to give them hell

My snipers might get stuck in but we will see.

which reminds me is it the standard bs of the troop to hit witha sniper rile ?

Yeah, snipers use thier BS to hit, but always wound on a 4+ regardless of toughness. A roll of 6 is rending with sniper rifles. And don't forget that they cause pinning too if you cause a wound.

I'm not really sure about the WBB rule and how it relates to Power Weapons, but I'm thinking that its similar to the FNP rule and the model affected must have had to be able to take an armor save to have it work. A power weapon and low AP weapons negate the FNP rule, so I'm thinking that it will not allow them the WBB rule and they'll just be dead. I could be wrong, though, so take my suggestion with a grain of salt.

Its not, WBB does not work against power weapons. The main difference is that WBB works against AP2 and AP1 weapons.

If you are able to beat him in the intial assault (which I expect you ought to be) then he'll lose WBB from sweeping advance as well.

Sniper rifles do use standard to hit rules now, based on BS.

Well, since only the necron lord and the c'tan have multiple wounds, the ID rule will really only apply to them. I think you may be confusing ID with WBB and what they are allowed to make the roll against and what they are not. I'm sorry to say that my codex is not with me at the moment, or I would clarify this further.

Dakka member "extrenm(54)" has a great working knowledge of the necrons, and would be able to help clarify. He could probably recite the whole codex in his sleep.

Basically anything with enough strength to inflict ID also negates WBB. There are other things that deny WBB but those are listed in the codex. Note that a res orb removes all restrictions except needing a like model within 6".

Yup. One thing to remember with the snipers is that rending WILL allow them to attempt WBB, as it is not negated by AP1 and AP2 (as stated) but also make sure to remember to make them take their Pinning and Morale Checks. Yes they are all Ld10 but you wouldn't believe the number of players who don't bother or assume they don't have to take them

As was said - in CC you only have to worry about killing them, beating them and then running the unit down. Now Sweeping Advance is majority Init, not highest, the I2 'crons can get swept easily. This negates any and all saves, including WBB - and including the models that are already down on the ground, as they are still part of the unit that got swept.

Amazing how many necron players would like it both ways....
