Subject: Hellcannon - classification and questions about movement.

On a Canoptek Spyder's Waiting List
|
Heya Guys,
as I choosed the Hellcannon for my planned Chaos Army I begun to give it a closer look and now I have questions about the movement of it.
The rules state, that the HC counts as a monstrous cavalry unit with the crew as riders. Following my point of view this would mean, the HC is allowed to march 12" or move 6" like MC.
Thanks for help

The FAQs on GW's website offer all the answers you need. Summary:
It fires like a stone thrower; as such, it cannot move and shoot.
It's classified as a monster, and so follows the rules for monsters and handlers. Sadly, this means that killing two of the Chaos Dwarfs scores half points, while killing the machine and 0 Dwarfs scores nothing.
If the Helcannon behaves, it can move as fast as the slowest model - the Dwarfs. If it rampages, the Dwarfs manage to keep up (whether they like it or not!).

Fires like a stone thrower, as in it uses the same rules to determine hits.
Monsters can move and shoot, iirc, like hydra, salamanders...
Can Ku'Gath move and shoot his stone thrower thing?

Fires like a stone thrower and must therefore obey all restrictions unless otherwise noted, so no moving and shooting. All other types of mixed character, e.g. hunter, work in the same way - note stegadon is a compelte exception as it does not fire LIKE a bolt thrower, just uses the rank penetration rules. Monsters have no specific exemption for moving and firing, it is specific to each entry - Ku;gath for example CAN fire on the move as it states he can!
If you declare a charge the handlers are ignored, so it would use it's own movement value to determine charge range. Note that this means it is no longer a skirmisher, so takes terrain movement penalties. Same thing happens on a rampage - if it contacts it counts as a charge, so you have to then apply any terrain penalties. messy.

if it rampages you would not apply terrain penalties as it is already there. It counts as a charge in the sense that the unit can declare reactions as a charge. In point of fact it actually moves before chargers during compulsory movement.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste |

If it counts as a charge why do you think that does not include all rules for charges, apart from declaring (as you are given an exemption for that) you are told it is a charge.
During a charge you are no longer a skirmisher. Thus terrain would apply. As i said - messy. The rules seem to contradict, surprise....
