It's a fun list i've wanted to run forever but do you guys think it can be competitive. The core of the list must remain the 6 dreads though I'll take other weapon suggestions.
HQ
Master of the Forge-115
Power Weapon
Elite
Dreadnought-125
Heavy Flamer, Assault Cannon
Dreadnought-125
Heavy Flamer, Assault Cannon

So what do you guys think? Could it be competitive? it's a lot of armor spam with lots of long range firepower though I am concerned about my counter attack or assault ability. All thoughts and comments welcome!

Hulksmash wrote:Elite Dreadnought-125 Heavy Flamer, Assault Cannon Dreadnought-125 Heavy Flamer, Assault Cannon I'm not a big fan of these two. You have a close-up, pre-assault heavy flamer combined with a long-ranged gun. Because you aren't drop-podding any of your Dreads, your opponent will have to run across the board directly at these two to make use of the Heavy Flamers. I'd probably change the ground Marine's Plasma Cannons to a Missile Launcher, drop one of your Elite Dreads, turn the other two Elite Dreads into Ironclads and get Pods for them. Better yet, mangle points around to get three ironclads in pods so you can drop two first turn and drop the third as a nasty surprise later in the game. AV13 Dreads with Multimeltas and Heavy flamers falling out of the sky is a scary thing to pretty much everyone.

I agree, it looks like you could really stomp on some lists. This list might actually compete with ork hordes well, since the hordes usually lack some AT weapons. As far as I can tell, this list has it all: the solid tac squads for objectives, the speeders and bikes for fast and hard-hitting units, and all those dreads are just plain scary. I bet your pocket book must hurt after all those dreds though.

The main reason for this list is i've already got 9 SM Dreads lying around between my old DA's, DH, and my newest SM. So my pocket book doesn't hurt since i've had 13 years to get all of the Dreads

Thus why you won't be using ironclads then, huh? Are you gonna pick up one when they get released anyway, just to round out your dred collection?

I can't imagine converting a standard Dread into an Ironclad would be all that difficult, would it? I mean, it probably wouldn't look like the ones GW will come out with one day, but still, some extra armor here and there and make the CCWs beefier...
For what it's worth, all of these mega-Dread lists are really making me consider picking up SMurfs. I hate SMurfs.

The problem is right now the only right arm DCCW is the one that comes w/the furiouso. Which I actually have one of but I'm not huge on them for this list. I need the extra ranged firepower to make the list itself work. Plus just one AV13 vehicle wouldn't be enough.
The Ironclads are going to be in my other list when I pick up some drop pods And when they release them i'll definitely be picking up 2 of them since that's the minimum number i'll be fielding in my newer lists.

We actually used chinese take-out soup bowls for drop pods prior to the official model coming out. They're about the same size and height, so was pretty handy. I don't mind people spending money on other aspects of their list rather than $30 terrain bits.

The biggest issue with this list is that it is forcing things to come to it.
Getting 1st turn is a must, as any decent shooting army will glance the long range dreads and deny a large portion of your army's shots.
A conversion beamer on the master would give the list even more of a ranged kick.
It could be a fun list, however, if you got rid of the speeder and made all of the long range dreads tri lascannon preditors it would be downright scarry. 9 Lascannons a turn, plus a conversion beamer blast would force everything upfield into the hands of your awaiting dreads!

I would expect that this list would have a hard time against Necron due to the auto-glance... otherwise as an Ork player, 6 Walkers cares me because the only way of taking them down is a rokkit shot at Bs 2... the best way to keep them alive is to not throw them into combat with a mob with a power klaw, those S8 attacks will kill the walker faster than the walker can deal 20 wounds... but if you double up, you may have a better chance...

What I would say is drop the lone land speeder with the multi-melta and use its points towards replacing the Heavy Flamer and assault cannon on the first two dreads. with twin-linked auto cannon and twin-linked lascannonn you can get 2 dreads like this which will eat up tau and necrons easy (just shoot the squads that don't have a res-orb near them they'll drop like fly's and phase out) and your biggest worries are Ork infantry hoards with 120 plus orks on the table and the same with nids need vindicators! or swap out your infantry squads plasma cannons for Heavy Bolters and drop the power fists that will give you -90-pts. to give your third dred. to a iron clad w/ drop pod with a little goodies (and make sure that you stay in cover with them so they get there 4 plus cover save) my favorite esspecaly against IG is dred. with 2 twin-liked auto cannons they eat up command squads quick.

@asugradinwa
Getting first turn isn't actually hugely important to this army as most of the events i've been playing at actually have good LOS blocking terrain so i'm not as worried about first turn. As for making them come to me that's not such a bad thing with this list but it also has the speed to reach out and tweak noses if it's needed. The idea of the predators is an ok one but to be honest it's the 6 dreads i wanted and 3 Predators w/all lascannons are just to expensive now.
@Bondt3
Not a bad suggestion actually on the dual autocannon dread. I might find the points somehwhere to do that. I like the idea of 4 st7 hits a turn. As for hordes I have a suprising amount of firepower between the 3 heavy bolter razorbacks, the 2 typhoons, and the dreads so i'm not actually that worried about hordes
