I played a 35 pt battle with my menoth friend. The lists looked something like this:

Me: Khador
Sorscha - +6WJ
-wardog - 1
-Beast-09 - 11

Full WG squad + 3 rockets +UA - 11
Full WG squad + 3 rockets - 9
Kell Bailoch - 2
2xMortar crews - 6
Field Gun - 2

Opponent: Menoth (Not sure what his points were)
Kreoss
-Fire of salvation
-Guardian

Chior
Vilmon
Knights exemplars
Eyriss
Cleansers
Flameguard

The battle went crappy for me at first. I managed to pick off the cleansers, eyriss, and the flameguard before they could really do anything. Although the chior kept his two heavies from being softened up by my mortars. On Sorscha's fear turn, I moved sorscha into the middle of the field, froze, wind walked back after dropping a nice tempest on his chior to kill the squad. He advanced vilmon around the flank of my mortars and field gun but he made the mistake of running with vilmon thus making him vulnerable. he was hiding behind a building but my field gun crew managed to step back a couple inches and shot him dead (albeit with alot of luck on my part). Menoth turn, he stands up his jacks an kreoss uses his feat to knock alot of my guys down. He charges my beast and does ALOT of damage to him. My caster became exposed and he ended up killing her BUT he had only 2 very damaged jacks left as the knights exemplar had almost been wiped out by my WG squad with rockets. He ran his fire of salvation at my flanking WG squad to prevent them from downing kreoss. On my turn my WG squad with the UA and rockets dropped the guardian and did some nice damage to kreoss. with his attention focused on one squad, his back was turned to my mortars, field gun, fullwg + rockets and I managed to drop him.

So let me just say that the rocketeers are a must have if you are taking alot of WG. They have enormous range which is the main weakness of the WG in the first place. They cost only 1 point each and if they get a direct hit, they do pwr12 + 3d6 + a 3" AOE. This allows your WG to advance under fog of war and bob and weave, and still be threatening to just about anything withing 14inches. Also, if you run with EIrusk you can upkeep fire for effect on them and do some insane damage. You would be looking at pwr12+4d6 (avg of 26), plenty enough to soften up heavy jacks and the AOE effect is great for thinning ranks of lighter infantry.

Don't forget to take Kovnik Joe with them. He can let one WG unit fire their guns twice each turn. That's up to 6 rockets per turn from a single unit.

ahhhh! I will be honest, I never used winterguard pre-MK2. Always felt it was more useful to use IFPs. As a result, I never even glanced at Kovnik Joe, I will have to review him and see how he plays.

Sounds like infantry are still viable in Mk2. I always liked winterguard, especially since I tended to use Irusk with a Kodiak and Winterguard.

Makes me want to get back into Warmachine.

THey do still have brutal shot but their power was reduced to 12. THey also removed the three shots that they used to have, so you can shoot them as many times as you want.
