I had a little dilemma with when having a friendly game last week concerning the shrine and I was wondering how would fellow dakkaites interpret some of the ways the shrine is used. Both of us was using WoC(he's kinda new, I've been playing since ravening hordes..heheh)

I'm not sure if there are any faqs for the 'shrines yet, I think there is/was one I found but then maybe I was lost in the chaos wastes. If there is one, maybe someone could point me to the right direction, thanks!

So here are my questions:
1. If the ability of the shrine targets a unit of chaos knights/marauder horsemen/chariot would it affect the mounts (steeds and warhorses)?

2. Does it affect ridden monsters such as manticores/dragons?

3. If a warshrine is no longer on the table, would the conferred abilities it granted to a friendly unit still takes effect?

Thank you peeps!! Now I'm going to do more digging...I knew I saw it somewhere(the faq)

1. Depends - if psychology then yes, same for fear / terror etc as this is already in the BRB. If it is a ward save on a cav mount, then irrelevant however on a monstrous mount i believe the rules for EotG table talk about the character, implying NOT any mount. don't have book so cannot check.

2. see above - see the wording for EotG as that talks about exclusions if memory serves

3. Yes: the only way that the effect can end is if the shrine casts another one. If the shrine is destroyed the effect remains active.

It doesn't, except in cases where the Gift granted affects the whole model (such as Magic Resistance).

Yes. Until such time as another Warshrine uses its ability on them.

And, yes! All of these answers can be found in the FAQ.

On #2, if you want to buff the dragon you can specifically target the beast. He actually benefits more from a lot of the results than the lord on top, and can reroll fear/terror results (while the lord is technically stuck with them, as he himself doesn't cause fear/terror, just his little pet) ...

The dragon isn't a unit though, surely?

It's a monster, that happens to have a dude on top, and is targetable in a lot of different ways (vs "US1 mounts" which aren't targetable in any way). I think it's far more likely that you can buff a dragon than you can't ... so until it's FAQ'd I guess a 3+ die roll is in order?

Here's another fun 'shrine question: you buff a chariot and it gets +1A ... but what part gets +1A? We've already ruled out mounts for cavalry, so maybe the 2 warriors? What about impact hits?

That one's the warriors. Impact hits are not stat line attacks which is what is buffed and since it can't be the horses it's gotta be the warriors.

Note: still not convinced chariot horses don't get it too, but admittedly the chariot one was a bit of a softball. I can easily see somebody arguing it gets EXTRA spiky and gets D6+2 impacts all the same.

When you do the shrine to knights do the horses get extra attacks, or is it just the knights? The answer would be the same for the chariots.

T.O.

Im fairly certain that in the case of a warshrine's giver of glory ability it affects the whole unit, including mounts, monstrous mounts and things pulling a chariot. As the FAQ indicates it affects characters within the units much in the same way spells do, with the exception that the effect remains on the unit if the character leaves.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste

Boss Salvage might have a point on the impact hits, furthermore it didn't specify that chariot impact hits are excluded.

Its in the faq that mounts can't be affected but the wording in warshrine states that it affects the whole unit, why are the mounts 'not part' of the unit baffles me.
