Subject: Gluing terrain to MDF boards??

Some friends and I built some terrain for the cons we attend. Most of it we mounted on MDF board.. The city fight
stuff seems to hold up ok because of the large area of the model is glued to the base, but the pieces like necromunda
walkways with a small footprint seem to break off the board for just looking at it wrong.
I currently use white glue and/or wood glue.. anyone have a trick or a glue that holds up better?

try contact adhesive or 'no more nails ultra' (don't know the US trade name for that though :( )
or maybe a hot-glue gun.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!! |

2-part 5 minutes epoxy might do the trick. Also, how thick is the MDF? If your using 1/8th inch, the MDF might be able to twist & snap the glue. 1/4th inch would be the better choice.

I'm using this stuff
.. its strong, flows in the cracks of the thing you wanna glue and the woodgrain of the board and is flexible so will withstand some movement in both the terrain piece and the board. Added bonus that its kinda sticky so most things wont move anymore so you can continue with the build right away or add things like sand and stuff.
It comes in tubes and is really easy to apply with a glue gun, the glue costs around 5 euro and the gun 3 euro here in holland.

Liquid Nails is the US product you want. It will NEVER come off once glued.

Liquid nails is the biz.
Use it for securing my foam hills to mdf boards (stops the foam chipping).
Had to repair a club hill recently. They'd made it out of foam, but not based it, so the edges were all chipped and damaged.
Liquid nails attached it to a board and allowed me to bog the cracks as well and the hill now only needs reflocking.
