Right well I do not personally own any of the GW washes but I was wondering if liquid water colors would have the same effect. I have some left over from my Art class. Not this particular brand but along the same quality. http://www.dickblick.com/products/old-holland-classic-watercolors/

Please if you know if they will work let me please know. Since everything is on the expensive side I would rather not waste any of my paint or time working on the models.

The easiest thing to do is to experiment on a test figure and tell us how they work. I don't see why they wouldn't.

How thick is the pigment inside the tube? Is is a thick liquid or something more solid like toothpaste? You might want to play around with a couple of mixes of water and glaze medium.

FYI, I use Liquitex acryllics for a lot of my washes. It comes in a squeeze bottle and is quite thick. Thins down nicely though and makes for an excellent wash.

Its thick like toothpaste. A little goes a long way. I just tried it out it works ok. I think I will become happier with it once I become more proficient. However it takes quite a while to dry.

Isn't it still water-soluble when dry though? I can see that being a pain in the butt if you want to paint over a wash later... Assuming this is just high-end gouache.

The bit stuck on the side of England. Wales isn't it.

In my xp water colours will not dry like acrylic or GW paint . They will always be water soluble, and be "picked up" by any paint thats brushed over them , so unless you varnish after you wash then its not a good idea.

Ah yeah that makes a lot of sense. Good to know. Ill try painting over it tomorrow and tell you. I also have some that are oil based which i tried out so Ill let everyone know how they react when being painted over.
GaluG yeah its just high end gouache.

Hmmm, true. You might be better off using an acrylic based paint.
