Hey all,

I have a question that I haven't been able to find an good answer for. My question is as follows...

Is it possible to build a Dwarf army that is aggressive/hitty without using Thorek?

I really want to go Slayer heavy, but I want to be a little competitive while sticking to my theme of the army being the Throng of Karak Kadrin.

any advice or help is much appreciated!

Thanks a bunch

Yes - but you still need an Anvil. Thorek just makes the list a lot more consistent and dangerous.

Yeah, what I meant was...

Is there a way to have an aggressive Dwarf army without using an anvil at all?

Thanks

It is tough
people can easily avoid you and run circles arround your models.
To do it you must have the strolaz bsb. You also need 5+ blocks of infantry who bunch up arround the bsb to start then spread out so they dont get flanked.

The only way to make it work is to make sure that the enemy has to go through you, not let them go arround. GL doing that without war machines convince them to charge sooner than later.

Also, slayers suck currently. Most heavy hitters have multiple str 4 attacks and go before slayers in combat. You will never swing. Go with hammerers/iron breakers (hammerers are better).

I'm not sure how a lack of war machines would encourage the enemy to charge sooner rather than later. Generally speaking, the presence of war machines has the effect of pushing my opponent *in* to combat as they don't want to hang out taking strength 7 bolts and guided stones to the noggin.

definitely grab some shooting for back up. Ive never seen such an army before but i hear horror stories of very mobile dwarfs without anvil or heavy shooting. I expect it takes work to keep people off your flank but thats what fantasy is all about.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste

The problem with a Dwarf Assaulty army is that Dwarves, although nice, tough, and hardy warriors, they lack scary CC potential

Every army has 'em, Ironguts , HE Spearmen, Chaos Warriors, Blootletters, Swordmasters, Corsairs etc.

The point is, with only 6 attacks in the front rank, many dwarf warriors will gain about 3-4 kills, while other armies (including the stinking Elgi) can actually out-fight dwarves.

That aside though, it is possible. Though, take a few warmachines and shooting as back up.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Rangers could come in useful here using the scouts rule, either distracting 1-2 enemy units or forcing him to move forward to outrun them. If nothing else, you will start 18" away from the enemy rather than 24" meaning the bearded ones have less distance to waddle/roll towards them. If you have balls of gromril take long beard rangers with shields and runes of stoicism + determination for early game tar-pitting.
