I'll preface this by saying I've never really played a game of 40k before. I've played a few games with the Black Reach box set but I don't think that really counts.

This is my 1000 point Catachan list, now. I'm kind of worried about my lack of anti-tank as Straken's the only strong squad for that. I've got my Russ and Marbo might get lucky with a demo charge but I shouldn't count on them. I guess my plan is to slowly advance my gunline aross the board.

If you can figure out points, you can take a cheap russ to soak up any weapon destroyed results, or keep the upgraded one firing on a vehicle destroyed result. That will make your anti tank a little more reliable.

I don't think I'd be able to fit in a second Russ at this point level without dropping my more fun pieces (psykers and Marbo). I hopefully won't have to deal with large amounts of armor at such a low point score, anyway. I've changed my list according so some things I've read on other forums:

HQ 1/2 175pts --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Command Squad A:
- Iron Hand Straken
- 3x Flamers
- Regimental Standard

Elites 2/3 175pts -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sly Marbo:
Psyker Squad:
- +5 Psykers

Troops 2/6 360pts --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platoon:
- Platoon Command:
- Infantry Squad A:
  - Flamer
- Infantry Squad B:
  - Flamer
- Infantry Squad C:
  - Flamer
- Infantry Squad D:
  - Flamer
Veteran Squad:
- 2x Melta
- 1x Plasma Rifle

Fast Attack 1/3 130pts -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Banewolf: (Might be Hellhound, depending on how I like it)

Heavy Support 1/3 160pts -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Leman Russ MBT
- Heavy Stubber

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total: 1000

I'm sad to see the second command squad go, as I wanted to use their higher BS as defense. The flamers in the squads should help out the BS3 for standard guardsmen, though. The regimental standard should help keep my dudes from breaking, another one of my fears.
