The new Black Talon - Return to Cat's Eye eBook (DP9-9034, eBook, 124 pages, full color, $20.00 USD) is available now. You can purchase the eBook right on Drivethru RPG, RPGnow, Wargame Vault and e23 at SJ Games for $20.00 USD.

The book will be sent off to the printers in a week on May 18th, for a May 29th release date. During that week, we would appreciate your feedback so we fix any typos that we may have missed. Afterward, we'll update the eBook with all feedback, add some photos of miniatures still being worked on, and send it to the printers. We expect the book to be back from the printers on May 27th and it will start shipping on Friday, May 29th. The book will be softcover, 124 pages (including four color pages), and retail for $28.00 USD.

We will also get a few of the scheduled May miniature releases for Black Talon out at the same time: Eagle Trooper Two Pack (DP9-9136), Raptor Commando Two Pack (DP9-9138) and Vulture Two Pack (DP9-9139).

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

Sweet. If you wrote a guide for the game on this site it would also be sweet.

How big are the miniatures?

They're 1/144 scale and the bases above are 25mm hex-style. Some of the bigger gears come on 40mm rounds and then we have "stuff that don't fit on bases" Like tanks, giant walkers, etc.

Here is a comparison shot for you. (FYI the 'Gear' is one of the older models so has a little less girth than the current ones.

As said, they're 1/144. Since Heavy Gear mecha are pretty tiny when compared to many other mecha games, this means they're physically a bit bigger than a 28mm human model.

Thanks, Balance.

If you didn't see it, check here:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Heavy%20Gear%20Blitz!

Do you have pictures of the various factions that can be used for it (i.e. hosted on Dakka)?

Also curious about pictures with the weapons on them (I had trouble getting into the
game before because I didn't know what was what on the models that I'd bought).

Ideas for the article (haha, unpaid labor!):

Comparison shots.

Bulleted Similarities to 40k in terms army collection, cost, design and gameplay.

Bulleted Differences from 40k in terms army collection, cost, design and gameplay.

Same as above, but for Battletech.

Balance,

Someone posted a very nice Heavy Gear Army Profile and I need to add a brief Heavy Gear description to this article index page:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/category:Army_Profile

Is there a cool, roughly 2-3 sentence way to describe the game?

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!

yeah, I started an article this morning, but I want to edit it down as I'm not happy with the organization or lack thereof.

I know the current main rulebook has weapon ID pics and we're hopefully putting a couple more online shortly (as some of the new units have different variants of existing weapons, like new rifles with underslung grenade launchers).

Do you feel that being forward like that l is fair game? I was avoiding that as I didn't want to come off as 'confrontational' especially since Heavy Gear has been in competition with Battletech for years. it used to be a bit more aggressive in the old days, buy nowadays I think everyone's trying to be a bit more relax. "Sure, that's a good game. Would you like to try ours?"

How about: "Heavy Gear Blitz! is a 1/144 scale squad-bases miniatures game focusing on fast-paced mecha combat with a modern military feel."

Malfred, yakface, I'll be editing the article ina bit and will try to tweak it with your suggestions in mind. Thanks.

It doesn't have to be confrontational (hah! Take that, Rackham...I keed). It just has
to give Dakka readers an idea of what the game is about. Many readers have only played
40k, or are most familiar with it.

So then you have something to start with.

Thanks for the support Guys. Balance, if you need any help writing stuff, hey, it's my job!

And ditto on the confrontational stuff. Ideally, the game will stand on its own (One would hope something nominated for Origins and the Ennies would...). Being negative is a great way to put people off. Being nice will only annoy the people you don't want to play with anyway.

Heavy Gear is a really fun Minis game and a really cool RPG.

I have not played in a while but I still have a bunch of the models and I remember really enjoying it.

The background was excellent as well. Very detailed and well thought out.

If you want to edit anything the article is here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Heavy%20Gear%20Blitz!

I'll probably work on it more tomorrow... Sadly I've got to get up ridiculously early for some maintenance at my day job, so no time tonight.
