Well, they're called Nauticans, and they're unofficial, but the running GW gag since the dawn of time has finally been turned into an army.

http://naut1.blogspot.com/

The third draft has recently gone online.

I haven't read through all of it yet, but I love it!

I wasn't trying to be funny, and I don't see any need for a lock. It is news that a new version of this fan project is now online.

Fishmen have been a running gag at GW for years. Some wag at GW HQ put it on a production schedule board to see if it would get leaked that a new army was in the works. It did, and has been mentioned all over the web for years.

That someone took this idea and ran with it shows that there are plenty of fans out there with imagination and the drive to do something with it.

Why does this need to be locked? I think it is great to see fan army lists, this obviously took someone a lot of effort.

I totally agree. This IS news and rumours. And I think it´s funny, too.

Thanks for sharing hammerofulric . ( I do really like this cover!)

Blessed be the mind that is too small for doubt!

This is news to me.

I think this fits the criteria of what this section was meant for. The news being someone has actually gone and made a Fishmen, obviously Dagon, army book.

There have been several times where things that have very little in relation to what the website is about have been posted and left unlocked...even fan made stuff.

I'm back!

It looks like news to me. It's a hell of a lot more polished than most of the stuff posted in the "proposed rules" forum. This is as legit a piece of news as anything else - thanks for sharing.

I'm tempted to sig that.

Anyway, @OP, thanks for posting this interesting piece of news. It looks like something that might be worth trying, and I like the art.

Geez, I hope this hasn't cheesed off too many people.

BTW, I'm the creator of the Nauticans with plenty of help from people here (like 40kEnthusiast and LtCraggs) and others from many other forums.

To me it's recent (I only completed it yesterday), worthy of mention and most importantly... playable (I think !) so, hopefully, that's good enough for the News section.

Let me know what you think of the army, cheers guys,
Sigmar

PS. would anyone be interested in playtesting ? We need as much help as we can get !

What about funny pictures with Geordi?

edit: to "unspam" this post a little, I have no problem with this being in the news forum. Seems solid enough to be worth posting in a more frewuently visited forum than proposed rules for fantasy. Does anyone on Dakka actually use it

edit edit: I will support every army list that'll let me use giant crabs and Reaper Were-Sharks.

that were-shark is one of reaper's best minis!!!

mermaids are actually pretty bad-ass in the old legends, so it's cool that these fishpeople will get a chance to flex their flippers (i know that was bad)...
an effort like this should definitely get as much respect as people's ad mech lists...

I hope if GW buys this off you, they don't wussify it and take away the boobs.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I remember reading through the long conversations between 40kEnthusiast, LtCraggs and you. I'm glad to see the army book is in a playable state. I'm really considering a small side army of this stuff, if not just to convert a bunch of the stuff up for fun.

Looks good but it realy, really needs a modeling section with links to the manufactorers.

I recognize some of the models but most players won't.

Seems like some slight overpricing going on over the whole army, and the magic items descriptions should be streamlined. It feels like a lengthy mess.

No playtesting fro me, because I 1) don´t have an army ( not yet) and 2) I am more a casual gamer and can´t analyse things as over/underpriced.
But when I saw this yesterday it really made me want to start a small force or at least convert a "gang" of them( like Mordheim or for display).
In germany, there are a lot of shops that sell small stuff to tourists, including crab-armour. It looks like crab but without the crab inside it.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Up your nose with a rubber hose.

Finally my crabs can be put to good use!

Creatures of the Reefs (or "Reefers")

The Reef dwellers live in symbiotic harmony with the living coral about them. They are at one with the conditions and they carry with them the magical essence of the coral environment.

On land, the living coral will form around "Reefers" who do not move. This provides some protection from missile fire and makes "Reefers" move difficult to shift in close combat.

Creatures of the Reef who are not in combat and do not move in the movement phase benefit from soft cover (-1 to hit for missile fire)

Creatures of the Reef gain +1 to their combat resolution* as coral forms around them and they become more difficult for the enemy to dislodge.

* This benefit does not apply in the first turn of combat if the Reefer unit charged into combat.

Where's the Reefer Madness special rule?
