Is there any other alternative to Kor'Sarro Khan to make your bike squads into troop options? I have a player insisting that you can take them as troops as long as you take a captain on a bike. Is this true? I didn't think that this was legal. I cannot find any entry of this in the codex or FAQs. I keep trying to tell him that I don't think he's right, but he insists. What's the reality, am I wrong or is he?

I have to agree with insaniak here, if you don't think it is allowed, ask for him to show you the rule. If he can't/won't call him out as a cheating scumbag!

And insaniak also got the answer, SM Captains (and only Captains, not Chapter Master or other HQ choices) let you take bikes as troops.

Honestly, its clearly labeled in the SM codex that a Captain on a bike makes Bikes of a certain min size troops choices as well as FA choices.

Yeah, I had to apologize for being so stubborn about it. I get that way sometimes, but I will still admit if I am proven wrong. I can always count on Gwar! to find me that rule. I swear he has every page of every codex and rulebook memorized.... like some kind of evil rule-reading machine-robot!

The real question is.....has anyone ever made a rock hard, tournament winning Space Marine Bike list?

While not directly relevant the other day I was watching a game on VASSAL where someone had taken khan on foot with a bike list (IIRC khan was riding in a LR with termies).

So just as an addendum, whether you are using a captain or khan they MUST be bike mounted to allow you to take bikes as infantry.
