O.K. so I thought about it for a while and thought that grot snipers would be a good Idea and these are the rules I have come up with.

Their stat line is the same as the normal grot.
their gun has the following stats,
AP:5.
Str:3.
Heavy:1.
Range:36''.
Squad Sise:5-15.
4 Points each.

Special Rules:
Runtherds need not apply.(because they aren't expected to see combat so they won't run away during a battle and thusly need no runtherd.)

Optional upgrades:
'Uge Scopes:they gain a +6'' modifier to their range.+3pts per model.
Loudeners:Gives a -1Ld to squads being fired upon(This is because the sound the guns make is now akin to that of a cannon type weapon)+3pts per model.
They may take a big shoota at the normal cost but it requires two grots to use it due to their size.(A second may be taken If the squad numbers the full 15.)

They will be treated as troops.

If any one has suggestions about their views on what I have given or ideas of their own they are very welcome to.

Completely wrong section for this. Proposed rules is where you want to be.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

I like the second stats but maybe 6 pts rather than 8.

Not bad, but would be a very broken and much abused unit.

A squad of 15, with a 6" upgrade and a the -1 Ld upgrade, could fire at a squad of Fire Warriors from 42" away.

(I don't know Grot BS, assuming it is 2?)
1-2 Wounds from 36"-42"
1-2 Wounds from 30"-36"

Forces the Fire Warriors to make a Ld. check at either 6 (without Shas'ui) or 7 (with Shas'ui), before they can even take a shot. In other words, there is at least a 50% chance that these Grot snipers can make the Fire Warriors fail a Ld. test, before the Tau have even gotten a shot off. Then of course, they are able to take more shots as the Fire Warriors fall back, regroup, etc.

A Grot unit like that would cost 150 points, a Fire Warrior squad, with a Shas'ui, Bonding Knife, and Markerlight, will run 145.

Do what you like with that, but it would be a pretty broken unit.

I based my stat set off the current Ratlings
Grots have -1BS, -2I, -1Ld
-12Rg on weapon

BUT there Troops, so must be worth more for the ability to infiltrate and score
They have stealth, so infiltrate into cover and they get a 3+ save (2+ if the G2G). this will make them very had to dislodge

At 6 points each, it would be 180p for 30 models with a 3+/2+ save sitting on objectives
They have quite a respectable amount of fire power too - 5hits, ~2 wounds and a rending hit for a 10 man max sized squad.
Thats 20 shots to take out a WraithLord
SO i do think they need to be 8p IMO
