Well I'm a bit of a weird one. I played my first and last game I think 9 years ago back when I was in secondary school. Ever since then I've stayed with the 40k fluff side of things - buying up most of the 40k Black Library books, getting codexes to read the background sections, reading online forums like this, portent ( ) and warseer.

So for those 9 years I think I had a scout squad, 2 land raiders, and one Space Marine (not a squad mind.....). Recently I got semi lucky and bought up a huge bunch of stuff with massive discounts. Primarily I'm going to be a BA player, but loved the Grey Knights and new Imperial Guard fluff. So my summer is going to be spent painting, as all these grey marines are starting to look bad on the bookcase.

What I'm hoping to get out of the hobby - just a relaxing time in between a stresssful yet enjoyable Uni course; practising painting to develop a more artistic side of me as well as gaining better hand eye coordination (which is great for the profession I'm planning to go down into); and finally and most importantly meet people outside of my normal study/football fraternity

Anyway right now, I'm looking to join a gaming club/FLGS around London, UK (so if you have any personal recommendations that is easy to get to by Tube please tell me) where I can be taught the game, and stick around to play 40k games on a regular basis. Hope to see you lot in random discussions/rants/moans and remember - all my comments are noobish!

Welcome.

Ask at the GW stores for clubs.

I lived there in 1999 and 2000 and used to go to a club at University College London, just up the road from the Oxford St store, but don't know if it would be still going.

Thanks for the replies!

Club wise there is one at Charing Cross which seems to be a good one to go to. I'll probably pop into GW Oxford St to get some help then ask to join/show up.

I'm at Kings College London, so the UCL Club might be outta the question but I'll try and find out about it.
