Sorry had to do it, but this is for all things NES. Favorite games, stories, rants, etc...

When I was a kid (5 or so) I would get so mad while playing Nintendo that my parents would turn it off and force me to go outside. We would make a weekly run to the video store to rent a game. Thinking back on it I can remember the calls to my mom at work asking if we can go and rent something. I will have to ask her, but it probably irritated her more than once.

Some of the more memorable games:
Zelda http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda_(series)
Bad Dudes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_Dudes
Castlevania http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castlevania_(video_game)
Cobra Triangle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobra_Triangle

So on and so forth.

Ducktales for some reason really sticks out to me. You could play as several different characters and was farily easy. I'm going to attempt to find it this weekend.

Some of my favorites include Legend of Zelda II: The Adventures of Link and Castlevania II: Simon's Quest... I used to replay those constantly.

A couple of my favorite games to rent were GI Joe and Bionic Commando.

I remember the durability of the controllers. A friend who always got easily frustrated would toss them against the wall.

After 20+ years of use we finally have a "bad" controller. Once in every 20 uses or so the B button doesn't respond perfectly. My wife gets that controller when we play Dr. Mario because she has mythical skills and needs taken down a notch while we play.

I love the little tricks that we have developed to make it work over the years. Like having to blow out the cartridges and the console, or having to turn off the system, pulling the game out and having to wiggle the game back in so that it will work.

We had the game Track&Field 2 on the NES. Lots of rapid button mashing, that game actually cost us 2 controllers back in the days.

Zelda is a big fav, never liked the sidescrolling Zelda 2, I was really glad Zelda 3 went back to its roots.
Megaman 2 has gotten endless replays by me as well. Great gameplay and luvverly music to boot.

Metal Gear, Bionic Commando, Russian Attack, Tetris, Doctor Mario are also fondly remembered.

I actually found my brother's old NES today, with the old games we used to play back in the day. Megaman 3 and Battletoads were the main time killers for us. I'll have to hook it up to the 46 inch LCD to see if it still works. Should be a laugh seeing it lined up along side the PS3

The thing I always liked about GI Joe was the vehicles you could get in the game.

Any Crystalis fans out there? I spent some serious time on that one.

Battletoads! What a memory!

The good old days of Double Dragon.

And a car game called "Breakthru" I always found enjoyable. And Excitebike!

How about Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team-Up?

I played Double Dragon Wednesday night. I forgot about the Fighting sub-game you can play. It's actually kind of cool. I mean it's a fighter with two buttons so you can only do so much, but it's pretty good with 2 players.

They had a Fatal Fury on the NES with something like 32 characters. There was also a Mario fighting game which used moves that would later be featured in Smash Bros. To finish the list of NES fighting games I know of off the top of my head, there was the Ninja Turtle one.

My favorite as a kid was the port of Bubble Bobble. So many power ups for just one game. Just last week I started playing Fire Emblem Gaiden and I have to say it's easily the best strategy game I've played on a console, even beating Final Fantasy Tactics or Ogre Battle.

Fear my forticular NEStitude.

One out of three ain't bad.

No.

The first Fatal Fury series allowed players to select one of three characters, Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard, and Joe Higashi. Ported to SNES and Sega Genesis by Takara.
Super Smash Bros. was developed during 1998. It began life as a prototype created by Masahiro Sakurai and Satoru Iwata in their spare time and originally featured no Nintendo characters.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters, is fighting game released for the NES. Not to be confused with TMNT 1,2 or 3, which also appeares on the NES

Pro Wrestling. We actually ran our NES through the VCR and recorded it. Not to show our topscores or anything, but just to see if we could.
