Did I see someone note, somewhere, that the T-shirts can "traded-in" for two (2) of the Babes models ?

Shirt can be traded in for two Babes, but not any Reinforcements (the ones that you have to add $10 for).

I just signed up, thought honestly, the kickstarter levels and add-ons and all confuse me. I have no idea what I'm getting, but it seems like a cool project.

I'm not sure what you feel comfortable pledging, but I would suggest getting at least the "Bomb Kit" ($75 pledge) level: that's the basic level where you get the freebees like the OOP miniatures and the small size companion animals (the little raptor, the iSlug and so on).

At just that level you get a choice of 3 "Babes" (not the "Reinforcement pairs") and the Kickstarter exclusive mechanic (with sidekick), along with the Pin-up cards and a tee. You can trade in the Tee for 2 more babe selections, for a total of 5 babes + KS exclusive at Bomb Kit.

The lowest level to get All the babes is Napalm ($150), which has a base of 15 Babes, and you can trade in the shirt for a total of 17 Babes. However, it's very likely that funding will bring another Babe to the table, bringing the total selections to 18. Note also that there are no reinforcements included at this level.

To get everything, you can pledge Neutron ($200); 18 babes, shirt, cards, kickstarter exclusives and a choice of 3 Reinforcements (which should cover the likely choices of Luta, Prof and Rocket-Girl).

Who knows, with luck we may need to be adding on even with that level! Hope that helps, but if you have a more specific question Patrick is very good about answering questions both here and in the comments section of the KS.

EDIT; The content of the Bomb Kit pledge level,

See, this is why I'm so confused. The distinction between what's a "Reinforcement" and what's a "Babe" and what's a "Relic". And I don't know if I can buy any of those things separately once the thing goes live or if pledging now is the only way. I signed up for the $150 level, but let's say I wanted to get Rocket Girl too. How do I do that? Do I need to do it today, or can I just buy her once the project goes live? It's not very easy or intuitive to figure out how to get the specific models I want.

The babes are these ones, you get them with 'pick' from your pledge (and can add them singley for $10)

The relics are 4 old figures Patrick sculpted for his Morgan Keith line (and are now out of production). The first three have been added free to Bomb Kit ($75) level and above, and the fourth will be added free if we hit $125K (you can add them singley for $5)

The reinforcements are these, you CANNOT use your pledge level 'picks' for them, you have to add $10 for each pair of figures

Babes are the ones listed in the first graphic. There are 18 of them, almost all available at this point. They are almost always single models, though some have a small sidekick with them. They are the ones you can choose at Bomb and above, or you can buy individual ones for $10.

Relics are the add-ons that are older creations by Patrick Keith. They have no concept art. You get one of each at Bomb level and higher, or can buy additional ones at $5 each.

Reinforcements are the second set of graphics. There are six sets, though only 2 (almost 3) are uncovered and available right now. They come in pairs--a 25mm girl and a 50mm "monster." Each set is an additional $10, no matter your pledge level.

Yes, there will be an after Kickstarter to work out your pledge. But, if you're interested at all, pledge now.

Ah, I see, let me try and explain (probably get something wrong myself!);

-Babes: will all be available after the Kickstarter, albeit I do not know what the price point will be. When you look at the chart, all of the silhouettes are references to the Babes. Babes are the stand alone models on this chart;

As of right now we have 17 models in the Babe category.

-Reinforcements: will all be available after the kickstarter. Again, price point unknown. Reinforcements are either pairs of models, or larger compound models off this chart. Pledge levels do not include Reinforcements, other the the $200 Neutron level. Reinforcements are added to pledges by increasing your pledge by $10 each over your base pledge;

We are rapidly coming up on 3 available selections from this category.

-Relics: the relics are miniatures from Patrick Keith's old, now defunct, studio line. These will not be purchasable later. They are availble 2 ways during the kickstarter:
--First: as a free addition to pledge levels that contain a "Bomb kit",
--Second, as an add-on to any pledge level for $5 each.
Again, it is currently the situation that "Relics" will not be available after the kickstarter.

-Sidekicks (you didn't ask, but doesn't hurt); Sidekicks are small sized models, some are attached to specific models (such as the gremlin and Betty), but most are simply added to Bomb Kit. They can also be purchased as a pack of 5 for $10. They will be available after the kickstarter, but the pricing and method of purchase are not currently known.

So, for example, you wanted 5 Babes, 1 Reinforcement, 2 extra Relics; you would pledge "Bomb Kit" ($75), trade in the shirt and that gets you 5 Babes, you would then add $20 to your pledge, $10 for the Reinforcement and $10 for the 2 Relics, for a total of $95.

You say you've pledged $150 (Napalm level).... same as me,

this will get you 15 Babes in total or 17 if you give up your T-shirt (if you select a babe with a sidekick in the picture for example pussy patrol you get that too)
the KS exclusive Maelee the Mechanic & HLpR
the 3 relic babes
all the sidekicks etc in the Bombkit picture

To get the Rocket Bike too increase your pledge by $10 to $160, leave the level at Napalm

(or if you don't want to spend more cash reduce your level to incendiary ($140) but keep the pledge total at $150..... this would mean only having 12 babe choices or 14 if you give up the t-shirt)

Quite reassuring to see basically everyone on the same page (hopefully that means we're all correct!).

Just broke 1,000 backers and are only about $700 from the Rocket-bike; Cave Girl is just a hop from there, we may yet see the Atomic Punks, perhaps more today. Very exciting!

I think it is unfortunate the particular timing of the end of this one. Closing out before the West Coast gets done with work will likely cause a good half of the final adjustments to be missed, another 3 or 4 hours would have probably finished out the revealed stretch goals.

Hopefully the remaining 40 minutes are enough time for the Fire Brigade.

That is a bit odd, considering the company (which is to say, Patrick) is based out of Texas. I have no idea how Kickstarters are scheduled at this degree though, I imagine there is some reason for it.

In for $100. Was more than a little skeptical at first, but enough good sculpts were added to pull me in. Plus, the bomb level and up are a stupid value for the amount of money he's asking.

The reinforcement babes are two models and the second is on a 50mm base. And you're getting them at $10. That seems like an incredible deal.

Remember, this guy is an stablished sculptor, working for companies like Reaper, but he's trying to start his own line. He's going to pay out of pocket for molds, materials, website and everything. This company is not established and looking to expand, like Reaper or Mantic or SodaPop.

So, yeah, if it costs 5,000 to create molds and buy materials to make 2,000 minis, it makes sense that it will cost MORE than 10,000 to make a pair of them when one of the pair is of a significantly larger size.

I know I'm being defensive, but this is the kind of enterprise that needs to be encouraged on Kickstarter. Mantic and SodaPop and others are just creating pre-sales.

As the deal stands right now, $150 gets you 16 (or 18 with shirt trade-in) babes, 3 (maybe 4 if we get to 125k) more 25 mm girls, art cards for everything, 3 weapons sprues, 7 small sidekicks (more if you select the appropriate Babes), scenic bases for each, and 40mm marker. That's $8.33 per 25mm mini (with the shirt trade in) before you factor in the extras ($1 per base is common).

And $10 add ons? Where are you going to find a $10 50mm werewolf with a tophat?

I was (and am) already down for the $150 deal. That gets me a bunch of figures for slightly more than I'd pay for the same figure if it were produced by Reaper and sold at full RRP. The production costs you quoted sound quite high as well, and the production numbers for each unit seem unrealistically high as well, particuarlly for add-on figures/brand new product. Starting with 2k units of each of these (add-on) figures would be a really, really optimistic move, especially as you state, the retail on them will be more than $10 a unit, I'm not sure where you got those numbers from. It's a moot point now, and the KS did well in the last 24 hours, but I believe they would have made more money if he'd actually kept to the single babes at more-achievable $5k steps. I probably would have upped my pledge if it had more of the regular babes as a possibility, and putting up the specific silhouettes instead of the generic ones was also done a little too late. (concept art would have been even better). Dentry also makes a very good point about ending it on a Saturday rather than Friday as Sean does about end times.

Ah well, it works out successfully, and even better, I won't have to add much afterwards. Congratulations to Patrick. Hope to see him remain posting here on Dakka from time to time despite the KS finishing up.

I agree with Scipio.au, $5,000 just to produce a single 28mm metal model is very high.

I'd recommend checking out the below link, its a post from Kev White's (From Hasslefree miniatures.) Facebook page where he breaks down the actual production costs of producing metal miniatures.

Anyway congratulations to Patrick on the very successful campaign, im really glad i caved in last night and finally pledged.

The other thing I forgot to mention regarding the $10k stretch goals for add-on figures - the KS doesn't actually supply any of those figures unless people also pay the $10 on top for them. So, it doesn't cost $10k to get 2 figures sculpted and moulds made. These aren't injection-plastic moulds we're talking about, after all. And the $10/per paid by those who want them more than pays for the metal in them.

And thanks, Gusty - I was looking for that post on the FoD earlier to get more specific numbers for my post. Didn't realise it was on FB instead..

A post close update, and well worth the wait!

CONGRATULATIONS BOMBARDIERS!
Update #28 · Oct. 06, 2012 · comment

We the Bomb Squad want to offer all of you the sincerest appreciation for your support throughout the entire fundraising campaign on Kickstarter.
BOMBS AWAY

The first two segments of our one-year plan have already been accomplished. Thanks to our fantastic Bombardier supporters, we have been able to bring all the ideas to launch a full line of miniatures at once. While the remaining stretch goal was not enough to reach putting a full Reinforcements set into production right away, we were completely blown away at the sheer volume of backers and pledges we received during the final hour of the project.

In light of that final total, as a special thanks to all our Kickstarter supporters, EVERY KICKSTARTER BACKER will receive a special Doctor Helen Salinger Babe for absolutely FREE! That's right, no additional pledging, no add-on, right down to the $1 RACK Level!

Doctor Salinger is named after a strong female character from Pulp Sci-Fi during a period when such characters were rare and far between. Big thanks go to artist Tim Collier who sat and rendered this while I was trying to finish my Pathfinder assignment during last week's trip to the Reaper Factory.
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT

The PayPal thingy is live.

You can send more money to us and select more Babes. If you pledged on the Kickstarter project, you can add to your pledge total there and indicate additional rewards we can send to you.

Remember, this is NOT a Pledge Manager, an online store, shopping cart, or point of sale.

Your contribution will go towards production costs, setup expenses, overhead, and administration costs for the start up of Bombshell Miniatures. We will be sending you reward items to thank you for your generosity when the production period completes in early 2013.

KICKSTARTER BACKERS will not need to include additional shipping charges if we can verify your Kickstarter pledge and ship it all to the same address with your previous Kickstarter Rewards selections.
THE PLAN

Just like the Cylons, we have a plan. We have already reached the first two segments and are now in the Production Phase. This is where the bulk of the work for the launch project will take place. In the first segment we initiated a soft launch in August by setting up a blog and Facebook page to announce the upcoming fundraising campaign. The second phase was the Kickstarter fundraising itself. In the third phase production will begin where the models are actually made and manufactured. All throughout this phase, I will be posting regular updates and photos as to the progress of the project from sculpting, 3D renders, molding and casting news and anything else I can add to include you all in the process.

The Fulfillment Phase will begin when we start shipping out the rewards packages from both the Kickstarter fundraising and the ongoing PayPal support until we reach the Retail Phase. There will be no "stretch goals" or additions to the existing line during this phase.

In the Retail Phase we will close the fundraising for donations and rewards options and launch our full-featured online web store. All of the non-exclusive models that were funded for production will be available along with a selection of new models we will premier for the web store launch.

During the Retail Phase we will continue to offer new releases on a regular schedule as we wrap up our year-long plan with our premier at GenCon 2013. By that time we should have a large selection of models as well as a special Convention Exclusive figure we will reveal later with other exciting announcements for the following year.

We do not plan to launch a future Kickstarter funding campaign for Bombshell Miniatures at this time.
NEWS

Again, thanks for all your hard work, hard earned dollars, promotion and overwhelming support. I am still amazed at the number of backers and the amount we raised just on my reputation as a sculptor and with Tim & the other artist's designs. I appreciate your confidence in us more than anything else.

The massive work put in over the last two months to get this up and running and the constant monitoring it has required has been taxing. I did not get any actual work done on Friday due to the heavy maintenance the Kickstarter project page required for constant updating.

Special thanks go to Vicky who built all the rewards levels, crunched the numbers and added great incentives to the project. Thanks to Martin, Kevin and Brett for their continued moral and immoral support throughout the pledging period. Of course none of it would have been possible without the fantastic art from all of our great artists especially Tim.

I'm going away for a couple of days but I'll be back reporting to you live from the Reaper Factory during their annual Artist Conference where I will be sculpting on the Babes.

Looking forward to showing you some really cool stuff!
Patrick
