When you do come back around to 40k, I'm still jonesing to fight ya. Until then, perhaps think about Warmaster - Xeno's formed a group, and if you're not familiar with the game, I'm sure you'll be quite pleased with the ruleset.

Unfortunately despite getting antibiotics yesterday, I am still sick. I will not be coming today. Please please please message me to get my contact info, since i'm right off aviation and artesia, and would really like to start getting in games once or twice a week in the evening. I normally get off work around 6pm.

I wouldn't mind going all the way out to game empires maybe once a month. its a pretty far drive though :/. Perhaps a carpool could be arranged?

I know it's a trip for half the group or so, but it's well worth it (and Manhattan Beach is a trip for me)! The gaming environment is great, there's a ton of room at the new location, and a pretty neat selection of terrain. Also, the nerd-haunt factor is pretty low.

I'm up for heading out to Game Empire once in a while. It is really a haul for me, though - mainly because Pasadena is so hard to access from the westside. But, yeah, Thokt, if you want to start organizing it, I'll head out there sometimes.

Hey Gents!

So for our Game Empire meet up, I propose Saturday, December 7th. They open at 10 am, so we have the option of meeting up earlier, say 10:30am, to help mitigate traffic for the West side folks.

Thoughts?

I'm usually just kind of rolling out of bed around that time on Saturdays, but, I could probably get there around noon or one or so.

If we're gonna make this a gaming crew not tied to any geographic location, we need a bad ass name. I suggest

I'm cool with pushing back the time if we don't have any AM folks, but I'll wait to get a general consensus.

I think we should keep westside in the name, even if we start meeting at Game Empire sometimes. Because the westside has had such a dearth of miniature gaming location options over the years that I think it is important to make it easy for new people to find the group and know that something exists in the westside that is available to those looking to game in the area.

Ha, honestly, I was just kidding about the name, but I guess it's sparked some interesting discussion.

I've had Westside Wargamers reserved on Facebook and Yahoo Groups for a while now, if we wanted to use that.

Or we could go with Westside Table Flippers.

I started up the Aero gaming group many moons ago. It now has 200+ members. I don't have something like that in me again, though.

Or maybe we just keep it informal?

Hey guys my schedule is wild lately and I've missed both meetings but I would also be in to meet at a second location. Where exactly is gaming empires? It says San Diego on the google options.. I'm hoping that's not the one we are referring to? In any case count another head for upcoming games.

Also if there is anyone here who is interested in setting up a regular game as well I would be more than happy to play. It's usually hard with my schedule to make Saturdays work so if anyone isn't busy shoot me a PM sometime! Xenocidal maniac and I had an awesome gme a while back! Looking to play again soon.

I am down to do a little more work organizing stuff. Like I would be willing to start a email list and sent out email invites to stuff. Xeno maybe you would be willing to give me some pointers on building the community?

I agree with Yakface that even if we are not meeting only in the Westside that there is a need in that area for gamers to meet up and no natural location for them to do so (this is the whole reason I started this thread), and thus we should keep it in the thread and what not, but it could be like "the table flippers: a Westside gaming group" or something like that.

When I reserve the room at the church the organization name I have been using is "the game night players" but that was just something I made up on the spot when they asked me for a name. If we get a few suggestions I will make a poll or something.

Also I am down for the 7th, also some friends and I will be at empire tomorrow during the afternoon if any other folks have time off for Thanksgiving and want to play we will find room for you.

Hey all! I'm glad to see the meet ups have been going well. I've been busy with other things in life for a while now, but have finally finished building my two armies...

Game Empire is very close to me, I live in Los Feliz (next to Glendale) and would definitely be willing to meet up there.

Maybe we should make a Facebook group, for ease of communication!

How late will you guys be there on the 7th? I have work Saturdays and wouldn't make it over until 5 or 6. If anyone is still there for a while after that, I'll show up! Also, love the idea of a facebook group.

GE is open til 11pm on Saturday. I'm cool with the email list, but not into the FB group.

Emails work fine for me, was just bringing up Facebook since I know most people have one and I tend to communicate on that a lot more nowadays than email. Of course, if not everyone is down for that, email it is!

Can I ask what the aversion to Facebook is? I don't have any objection, just curious. Is it that you don't like all of your nerdy activities being broadcast to all of your "friends"?

If that is the case, there is the option of making a secret group. It would be invite-only, but it would prevent all of your likes and comments from being broadcast to everyone.

The group that I founded, Aero Boyz, was (and still is) on a mailing list. It works quite well, but some people don't know how to have e-mails automatically routed to a separate folder, so they get tired of having their primary inbox spammed and eventually unsubscribe or turn e-mails off. At peak times over the years, there have been as many as 500 e-mails per month. Average is about 100 - 150, however.

Personally, I would prefer FB. The mailing list I started has worked just fine for a number of years, though, so I would be fine either way.

I'll say that if you guys want a formal group, and you want to recruit new members and stuff like that, it's a pretty big task that you need to be committed to and focused on. One person will have to step up and grab the bull by the horns - create the FB page and / or mailing list, promote the group, organize events, etc etc. It's a lot of work.

Or, if you just want to keep it small-scale and casual, that's not as much work. But someone will have to step up to create the mailing list and get the basic infrastructure going. It's not going to just happen by itself.
