I just ordered a 2x2 mat last week, would've loved it in cloth lol! Will most probably order a 3x3 wasteland one in cloth before the deal ends.

Is the cloth mat less glossy? That's my main problem with the mat I have from you guys already. Particularly as a black space mat, the gloss is unfortunately really high.

RiTides: yes, they are less glossy than PVC mats.

Also some news:
Loads of new mats are available at our webshop to celebrate the end of the year! Yes, we teamed up with a new studio - Wargame Print and launched 4 new designs in 3 different sizes on 2 different materials. These are generic landscape backgrounds and are suitable for any setting, any scale and any scenario: rocky plains, arctic tundra, wild steppe and deep waters theme for naval battles. Mats come in 4x6, 4x4 and 3x3 sizes and are available as PVC or cloth options. Check them out at our gallery and prepare yourself for the upcoming 2015. Happy holiday!

Any chance of a comparison photo between the gloss and vinyl mats?

New mats look great! What I'd really like to see (and haven't from you or your competitors) would be some mats suitable for Zone Mortalis. 4x4 with lots of 2"-4" wide corridors. Obviously I'd rather have Forgeworld's nice resin pieces, but those are both expensive and time-consuming to paint.

I like the rocky plains one, but it seems to have an almost grid like texture to it, like you can see where the image piece has been added in, or the picture has been procedurally generated. Still good though. What I'd really like is a kind of broken rock with red/brown mud and earth and dead plants and the like, kind of like the scenery you see in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. Just the rocks and ground texture mostly, the rest I can add in myself with terrain.

Erren: indeed it would be great. The only reason we haven't launched one so far is replayability value.

RiTides: we will have video comparison of both types of mats pretty soon now

Fenriswulf: we heard you few posts before And concrete mat (which is partially done) will (hopefully) find the way to our list before spring comes. As for plains textures - it's a trick of the eye. Plains and Steppe share very similar textures. We tried various angles with a rolled out mat, but a grid is nowhere to be seen when mat lies on the table.

Awesome! Cracked concrete will be absolutely brilliant, and if I want vegetation I can just add in scenic elements of it to put on the top of it. This will be awesome, thanks so much guys!

I know you make mats but could it be possible for you to make hills covered in the same material to match the mats,
like you buy a set of blank modular hills then a kit which lets you cover them to go with your board.

Tokhuah: as of current day - no.

e.earnshaw: an interesting idea. You might want to consider cloth mats for this case. You can make the hill shape out of foam and glue the cloth on top of it. Now that thinking about it, we might even try it out ourselves...

Do you have more pics of the cloth mats somewhere as mentioned earlier?

Wow, surprised I've missed these mats until now. I would love to get one of the space-themed ones for BFG or X-Wing.

Just saw a video on YouTube comparing your asteroid cloth and pvc mat. I'm interested in getting a space mat but I have a few concerns.

Firstly, the mat came folded up and the creasing looks really bad. Would it not be possible to ship them in tubes rolled up like the vinyl ones. Surely you want the customer to receive the product in the best condition? It shouldnt be up to them to fix something that could have been prevented. Considering that the image is heat transferred on, i have doubts if the mat could be ironed to remove the folds.

Secondly, the colours seem noticeably different between the cloth and pvc mats, it looks flatter and less vibrant on the cloth. It would be great if you could get photos of your actual mats and not renders so we can see what we are actually buying and compare the finish of the cloth and pvc options.

I am primarily interested in the cloth (as i'm sure others are) because it's not as reflective as the pvc. This is important as i want the use the mat for video battle reports and glare would ruin the shots.

I look forward to your answers

Inquisitor Earl: there is lots of truth in your words, yes. But then again we considered all possible cases before releasing these mats in a way we did.

- Cloth does not hold shape while it is rolled. Imagine your bedsheet rolled and you are very close to a feeling of a mat. Even in tubes they will catch some wrinkles while shipping or storing them in a corner. Cloth mats are a battlefields-in-a-pocket that can be used 'on the go'. If someone wants their X-Wing minis to look top-notch, they are painting them. If I want more variety in my army regiment, I am making conversions. If you want your gaming surface ideal, then it's few minutes of iron-man cosplay and you can have it. Folding lines are important part of being a cloth mat.

- Colors - the cloth mats are completely mat (as non-reflective) while PVC has a slight glossy look. That changes the way they look. Of course the colors itself look a little bit different on both mats, since two completely different printing techniques are used, but definitely not out of the league. We did lots of test prints with fading colors, natural / artificial colors, various levels of black and we think that we found 'the right' looks. Natural backgrounds look natural, laser beams look laser-ish. As for image deepness - it's the same image in 300 dpi. We will let you be the judge of this question.

- Cloth mats are machine washable and can be ironed. We tried it numerous times as part of durability tests and we guarantee that they are compatible.

More pictures and video footage with cloth mats will surely appear in time. And we understand that one mat might not suite everyone's needs. For that reason we are offering custom prints with different color tones.

In other news, water themed mats – Ocean and Darkwater are now available as 4x4 size PVC and cloth versions. And a modified version of one of our space themed gaming mats too. Check them out at our website!

Wyrmalla: yes, we do. More like green with a bit of brown, but we are still in early stages and are tinkering with initial layout and textures to talk more details. Check us out at late February or early March.

Sining: not in upcoming season at least. But street-sih design is in our long 'to-do' list, so sooner or later...

Indeed! Tracking numbers are available in case shipment gets delayed, express delivery, shipping price at USPS says it's ~42 USD for domestic large parcels compared to our 9.9 GBP (~15 USD). And the price is fixed for unlimited amount of mats.

Got my new mat through today and I obviously did not read the description right. For some reason I thought the cloth mats were made out of mouse mat material!

What is the likelihood of you guys making your mats with mouse mat material? I have a 3x3 and a 2x2 out of your PVC material and whilst nice I have no end of trouble with the corners rolling up no matter which way I roll it. I wanted to continue buying your lovely mats and was hoping this new material would get me to stay as there is no other manufacturers with your range of choices.

The mat I received whilst nice (apart from logo in the corner) I'm not 100% sold on the practicality of gaming (I'll find out next Friday) as it seems it may 'fold' whilst sliding minatures around. Also this seems it's going to be a nightmare to store/transport without it creasing, I'll iron mine out and see what happens. Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you solve it?

overtyrant: let's hear how it turned out for you. As for mousepad material - we have something coming in a few months.

Meanwhile more news:
New gaming mat release! We are starting the month with the addition of swamp theme wargames mat to our range. This release was probably most challenging to create design-wise, but Jan Jasinski outdone himself again. Let the pictures at our gallery speak for themselves. The mat is manufactured on PVC or cloth in the popular 4x6, 4x4, 3x3 sizes but custom prints are available to suit the size of any table. Come, check it out, but watch your step - it’s slippery and deadly when wet. And it’s always wet in here…

God I wish you could give more details or be more specific - I have been wanting to order your mats for a while now (pretty much every space themed one for all the Firestorm Armada players in my area... we need like 6 mats ) but have waited because I have been holding out to see if you guys do one with mousepad material. We have one from frontline gamine and enjoy it immmensly over PVC or cloth mats (not your company's pvc or cloth but others, in general).... so I am just hopiong you come out with more detail soon
