If a vehicle is in area terrain and is shooting out of it, do they follow the must be within 2" inch rule? The reason I ask is the terrain in question does not block the vehicles line of sight. However, on page 22 the rules state that if you are in area terrain, you must be within 2 inches of the edge or the unit you are firing at gets a cover save.

With the terrain in question, the vehicle would not get a cover save as it is not covering 50 percent of the vehicle. Any help would be appreciated.

If the vehicle is more than 2" inside Area Terrain the target will get a cover save yes.

For you to gain cover you must be 50% obscured. Nothing in the vehicles rules provides an exemption to giving your opponent a cover save, therefore you still do.

It gives you a reason to not have vehicles in cover!

That is the way I had read the rules as well. However, a few players had their vehicles in area terrain this last tournament, and I had to argue the point when they were trying to blast my nids. I realize that they were in area terrain to make me have to take a difficult terrain test, but like both of you, I figured it would give me a cover save.

Thanks for the confirmation!
