Subject: Possible Bone Giant Conversions?
|
 |
Scarab with a Cracked Shell
|
I just got in touch with a bloke who said he'd sell me an unassembled bone giant pretty cheaply. I love how fluffy bone giants are and think that they're a great tactical addition to any Tomb Kings army, but I have one problem. I hate the look of the bone giant. I was thinking about making a more Ushabti-esque conversion and giving the giant one large blade instead of two smaller swords. Pretty much all of my modding experiances are with orks though, so I'm not sure how it will go down. Does anyone have any tips as to modding a bone giant or any pics of successful conversions?

actually if you think about it bone giants are mostly a waste of points. thier smashing attack requires you hit, and you only have WS 3. now if they had the experimental rules legalised this would be a different story.

I collect:
Grand alliance death (whole alliance)
Stormcast eternals
Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

meh, while their unstoppable assault requires you to hit, you are going to get on average 2.5 hits when charging, opening up the door. I also find the terror useful against horde armies (or the empire, there's nothing funnier than seeing half your opponant's gun line rout because of one unit)

luna has a good one there
other than that though, i currently have a bone giant in more pieces than it origionaly comes in
i had the same idea.
it will involve pinning parts as most limbs are very thin and tend to not stick very well unless supported alot.
ill use some tac later and roughly put him together to show you what i was working for.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor. |

Since the bone giant is just a huge walking skeleton, converting it should be pretty easy. As JD says, pin all the joints. (I'd recommend that even if assembling the model as standard.)
Hmm, don't know where you'd find an appropriate sized animal skull, if you want the animal Ushbati theme. You'll need some greenstuff modelling for the headdress if you want that too.
The biggest modelling problem will be making a giant sword - maybe join the two short swords into a double-blade-ended staff?

That's a great idea-thanks. I guess I'll try to mod the current skull with some green stuff like you suggest or maybe try to scratch build.
