Here's my Nightwing just about finished... just some work to do on the underside and the rear thrusters.

Meh! Nice work. One suggestion, it looks like you used a fine round brush to do the highlights. You may want to try the flat side of a flat brush for the lining. I think you'll get better, crisper lines.

I think the model is really striking, and I'm sure painting it must have been quite tense due to the cost of the model (how much are they? Must be over £70). However, after looking at it, there are a few things that I'll comment on.

Disclaimer= I am commenting on this in a positive way. Anybody who responds with comments like ''he never asked for your opinion!'' should speak to a mod before crying into their pillow. After the third degree burns I recieved after commenting on a painting service; I'm on the run from the PC gestapo and their heavies.

Obviously, there are several techniques being used here, but I feel that the difference in quality between them is quite stark. I really like the zig-zag pattern near the cockpit, it really works with the shading in the recessess. Also, good job on the gems; very realistic.

If I'm being negative, I'd criticise the highlighting of the wing panels. I think the grey looks a bit stark; i'd try and shade it nearer the middle of each line and highlight at the very edges. Some people might think this gives a glow effect, but it will be easier on the eye, and I can imagine Eldar vehicles looking pretty spectacular in general.

When I paint I stick to my strengths, and I were you I'd expand the zig-zag over the wings. Work the look; there are large expanses of black which is fine for Ulthwe, but those zig-zags really leap out and I'd abuse your talent in painting them as much as possible.

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

Thanks everyone!

I admit I have to agree with you Anti-Mag on the highlights, it does look stark. I might end up going over them with Chardonite Granite, the last pic you can see a couple of edging I've done using this colour near the cockpit and on some of the wing edge.

I think I will also expand the zig zag pattern onto the wings as there is a nice large expanse of black on which to paint them.

Again, thanks for your comments!

I think you did a great job. And I think what I would love to see you do is mount it on a taller base like its sweeping down on the enemy or in the middle of a dog fight. It looks great as is put it on a nice tall stand and it will look quite nasty. I would be honered to have my Valkyeries shot down by this alien scum.

I love the look of your flyer.

I'd echo the sentiments of Anti-Mag. the wing scould be lightened by putting the Celtic bone designs over the wings to balance the colours more.

Also, IMHO, the red looks slightly patchy. It may just be the light and if so then ignore this critique. However on first glance it looks like it could do with another coat.

Other than that Kudos on a good scheme, well executed.

Looking very nice. I really like how you used the red. Really break up the big black areas nicely.

Good stuff
