Here is the unveiling of my one inspired fluff army. after I read the book, "This present darkness" by Frank E. Peretti, i was inspired to ask the question of why is GW so anti-religion? well, it does make for a good game, I figure every interesting army has to have a dark side, even the "good" forces like space marines and imperial gaurd. But while they all have their dark side, nobody has a truly noble, good side. tyranids are mindless killers, chaos demons are maniacal killers, dark eldar are vicious killers, orks are just plan fun.
perhaps deamonhunters? but thats really just an extension of the uber corrupt bueracracy. Don't even get started on the inquisition.
(I'm just making my observation, and setting groundwork for my army plan).

Thus I began thinking about an angelic force, one that also draws its energy from the warp. If abstracts like anger, corruption, and lust can be formed into gods, why not emotions like hope(remember pandora's box) and love (not the mushy stuff)?

Background:
I have toyed with the idea of a blood angel sergent named 'Tal' doing a rotation with the death gaurd. On some planet which they are investigating, Tal comes across an unconcious man lying prone in a back room muttering something like, "forgiveness" and squirming in discomfort. As Tal moves to waken the man, images from the warp leap into his mind. A being, in the image of an amalgamation of the emperor and sanguinius, speaks to him about the direction of humanity. The being charges Tal with the unification of 'the illuminati'- a rebel force attempting to re-establish the emperor's pre-crusade teachings in which the emperor persistently refuses the title of "God." (somehow) Tal is overcome by the message he has received and embarks on a quest to find the illuminati. Along the way he finds himself increasingly slipping into the Empyrean to commune with this being. His skin takes on a wondrous glow and wings form along his back. Finally, he is able to convince the illuminati of his good intentions and is entrusted with some level of command.
He meets other ex-space marines, some given gifts of wings like himself, some given gifts of apostolics, and others are simply converted. none have been so nearly transformed as himself, nor have any had such frequent communications with 'the General' (original being) as he has.

This is where it fits into an army, because 7 is such a holy number in religious history (not nurgle, real history, IRL), I have attempted to make a force using 7 units of 7 men each (not quite there yet):

HQ:
The Archangel Tal (deamon prince with wings, MoNurgle, warptime)

***WIP: winged sorceror, MoSlanesh, with Lash

Fast attack:
Captain Guilo, Twin Swords of the South (raptor champion with double lightning claws)
Sirs: Krioni the Watchful, Triskal the Steadfast, Chimon of Europe, Nathan the Arabian, Armoth the African, ***** the seventh.
(plays as 6 raptors + raptor champion, 2 melta guns)

Troops:
The Proclamation;
7 proclaimers: 6 trumpets, 1 baritone (play as 7 noise marines, 4 soundblasters, 1 blastmaster)

7 proclaimers: 6 trumpets, 1 baritone (play as 7 noise marines, 4 soundblasters, 1 blastmaster)

The Holy Remnant:
7 Paladins of prayer (play as 7 plague marines, 2 plasma guns, champion with p.fist)
with rhino

7 Paladins of prayer (play as 7 plague marines, 2 plasma guns, champion with p.fist)
with rhino

Heavy Support:
The Divine Word:
7 Word Bringers, 4 Torches (7 havocs with 4 missle launchers

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
how do you connect gallery picture to this thread?
I have two pics of some of the Angels (raptors) if you would like to see them in my gallery.

so I think the story needs to be solidified.
Ive had suggestions that I incorporate parts of the chaos gods into the background.
Here are ideas: the presence of "The general" filters the warp energies of the warp and gives the same power but with an altered character.
Nurgle represents fortitude and determination.
Tzeentch represents improvement and accomplishment.
Khorne represents Honor and heroism.
Slaanesh represents purity or something of that nature.

Another idea seems more in line with the Warhammer universe:
This entire army is orchestrated by the treacherous forces of the warp. As a rare alliance for the powers of the empyrean: converting the forces of mankind takes on a different form through the subverted image of heroic looking forces that instill inspiring thoughts instead of fear. Mr/s. Slaanesh realizes there may be more converts if the initial form of his fighting force isn't ugly or grungy but has the appearence of purity. Thus, Tal and the illuminati are actually dooped into believing they are the new force of hope and goodness for rescuing the lost souls of the empire, but are actually bringing more souls to the side of chaos without realizing it.
-this is perhaps a more manipulative and devious strategy for the chaos gods, and seems entirely within the realm of their nature.
-a wolf in sheep's clothing situation.

If you have any advice for making this storyline mroe plausible, let me know.

As far as converting goes:
The paladins have shield to represent their higher toughness (T5) and since paladins are always portrayed as prayerful healers as well as fighters, their prayers provide them with the feel-no-pain of normal plague marines. none of these are painted.

The noise marines have bare-heads and are carrying trumpets (some of them), The blastmaster looks like a tuba. none of these are painted either.

I hope to add the pictures of these and the archangel Tal on Sunday or monday.
Thanks for visiting

The Bowling Alley

thats funny...

I like the premise...

but I've been also working on a side project...

I havent posted any of the stuff for it yet...

but I'm going to play a daemonic inquisition...

its if an inquisitorial armada and holy cruiser were lost in the warp and were corrupted beyond recognition in the eye of terror...

so it plats as the daemon hunters... but they are chaos tainted models...

maybe we'll run into each other eventually...

So I've added pics of my deamon Prince Tal to my gallery.
Ive decided that most of them are going to have a lava base, cause it looks really cool, and hey- angels fight in hell.

If this linked to the picture, cool!

I haven't painted his sword yet, I don't know how to do it... any advice?

I modeled him with Sanguinius in mind, so I think i could use him as such in certain games.

Also, Since this is the major project for challenging my painting abilities can anyone give me advice on ways to improve my painting skills?

The theme of the army is mainly metalic white (looks silver in pics) with a few coats of purple wash on the shoulders to give a metalic purple (regal purple) along with plenty of gold accents anywhere I can fit them...

The only variation will be that the paladins (plague marines) will have green washed shoulder pads instead of purple washed, though gold will still provide accents.

Thanks for looking

Ive added pictures of the 'play as' noise marines:

This was the first one I built, I didnt know what to do with his arm... so its on his hip. like a sassy model.

Here be the blastmaster, I think its a good model, activity for his left hand is built right in!

Here is the whole family together.

Anyway as always, I appreciate feedback.
