So, I'm considering getting some of the big stuff off FW, and was wondering, how do you guys prep yourself and painting skills for models like this, and what do you do once you get it and start painting? I've never had a hugely expensive model, so I was just wondering what advice the experts here have.

I just finished my first large forgeworld model and I had some of the same questions. I think the best bet is really to learn all you can about working with resin, since it is a new medium for you. To be honest though, I approached the painting very much the same way I painted the rest of my Tyranids. The only thing I thought was odd was holding the $100 piece, upside down by the tip of the tail, while I gave it a brown wash.
