As a speed painter i rarely spend much time on a model, but ive become interested in a painting competition (Ork characters)
i made the model a while ago, and since then ive been adding details to him, i figured this would be the best model i had to try and show off some painting

i usually paint in block sections (base coats, washes, highlights, detail)
but this time im taking a different angle.
rather than doing it the usual way im just going to focus on full areas at a time.
so far i have the skin done, next will be armour / metals.

wanted to log it on here so i can get some C&C as i go.


also, i would like to apologise for the bad pics, i need to build a lightbox.

Are you going for the extremely bright orc skin? or is it just the camera? if your not i would do a wash of thraka green (thin layer) to blend the colour's together, so the highlight would still be there but less dominant. otherwise looks good, will be following this

I want it fairly bright, however, i think i need to do a bit more dull blending on it.

Oh and if you take the fluff towards badrukk, his clothes would have ALOT of colours from different clans (so yellows,blues,reds) placed all around his clothing, and i know that this is still WIP but i wouldn't keep his whole cloak brown, would be plain and slightly boring.

As has been said, the highlighting on the skin is quite harsh, could do with more blending and bringing down a tone. Also, his left deltoid bothers me, the highlighting looks kind of arbitrary, not really based on where light will shine

Brown cloak/coat is simply just a base colour so far
ill be going as fluffly as possible.

got an extra head (same one) which im playing about with sculpting his hat on, once i design one i like ill simply add the hat to the current model.

Million: i just wanted to get the main highlighting areas into focus 1st.
as said ill be doing a dull blend when i get a chance, which should help bring it all together.


Dread: ive been waiting ages to paint him
had him sat on the shelf just getting bitz changed on him for ages, about the most recent of which was a bad moon emblem sculpted onto his left arm armour by his hand.

Can't wait to see him done!

Ok, had to take the cat to the vets to get him done (poor guy lost his nuts)

back now and can carry on
since the pics up now ive done a muted wash over the skin to dull it down and blend it alot.
(1:water 2:dark angels green 1: scorpion green)

Also have the "orange" areas basecoated in yellow.
Once ive given them a more powedered yellow colour ill get more pics up.



On some side notes:

1: i hate the foundation paints, i just cant get along with them as im too used to using multiple thin coats instead.

2: dislike the washes alot.
i tend to make my own instead as i can change the consistancy to how i need it.

Put a dark dull wash over his skin now to mute that a little, it still stands out but not as much.
the yellow is pertty much done as a base colour, just needs some damage added.

tried adding damage to the armour plate on his chainsaw arm, it looks like gak, so that will be re-done (curse you eavy metal team guides!) didnt work as i planned

got the main concept on the gun done pattern wise.
i think ill work more on the gun next, get that detailed up and damaged aswell as some barrel burn and skorching.

That is pretty cool. Where did you get the Bad Moonz shield on the left arm?

Its an ogre kingdoms iron fist with some GS to make the moonz emblem.

Isn't badrukk meant to be rich and have all the best weapons, and tons of looted medals and paraphernalia?

Been working on that today
with any luck ill have it finished by tomorrow so i can add that to the model once its been painted.
