Hi Ive just started a new slaanesh marine force and wanted to sculpt some slaanesh iconography on them. Now obviously I will need green stuff but i was hoping for some tips on what tools to use. Will Gw's sculpting tool be a good buy, will I need any other tools? Any tips and advice would be greatly apreciated.

Check out any local model stores, they tend to sell good quality sculpting tools much cheaper than GW's ones (and better quality)
what area will you be putting the icons on and how big will they be?

i find these following things useful, and they can be found around the home... maybe not so much the scalpel
tweezers
pins or needles
scalpel
pens but without the ink stalk in them ( for making lenses of various sizes)
a nail file
small scissors
and always use wet hands and instruments otherwise youll get finger print marks on it and the green stuff will stick to the instruments

If you are only starting out some people suggest using vaseline instead of water.I will admit I don't know how well this works but apparently it is easier than with water, just not too much of the stuff other wise it gets too slippery and won't stay where you want it to.

Honestly, none of the top sculptors recommend you use vasaline... Just make sure your tools are lubricated - I just tend to lick mine before using them and this works fine, but you have to find a workflow that is comfortable for you.
What I would recommend to a novice sculptor is to maybe use Grey Stuff (ProCreate) as it is less sticky and a little more forgiving, and it is easier to create sharp edges in grey stuff when you are starting out, compared to green stuff... If you do want to use green stuff, you can make it a bit easier to work with by mixing in a bit of FIMO into the green stuff before use (at a ratio of about one part fimo to four parts GS).
Get yourself a decent set of sculpting tools and a couple of clay shapers (a flat chisel head, and a tapered head one are probably all you would need) and practise, practise, practise!!

I would add a clay shaper to that list of stuff. A bowl of cold water helps to keep it from sticking to your tools. I suppose vaseline would work too...

Man, if I could lick my own tools, I'd... nevermind.
