I have no trust in Chaos Dreadnoughts, especially equipped the way you do. If you remove it, you'll have points for another 2 Obliterators. Also, the 20 extra points is worth it for another melta shot. I also don't trust Daemon Weapons. You might want to put in a Daemon Prince with wings and a mark (no Daemon Weapon) instead of the Lord. You'll probably get more use out of it.

Yeah, dreads are pretty terrible. I've had some luck, though, deploying to counter it. For a little while I had a dread armed with a plasma cannon that followed my landraider around. When he went nuts, he shot the landraider and bounced off harmlessly. You could do the same thing by having him follow a rhino and just have close combat weapons with heavy flamer or just bolters. That'd be pretty cheap, too.

I'd find a way to get another meltagun in with those raptors, too. Popping a tank and then charging the juicy center together with your lord is a nice thing!

Daemon Weapons aren't terrible, but you have to accept that when you depend on something random, you can get screwed by it. If you like the idea of sometimes losing a game because your lord killed himself instead of the enemy, then go for it.

As for the noisemarine squads, I think you're spending way too much for them. Sonic blasters for anti hordes at long range, in a rhino to get close to blast heavy infantry with a template, and an anti-tank weapon you have to stay back and stay still to use that costs 40 points?

You could thin those squads down and get like 4 squads that are good in cc and kill hordes and MEQ well for that many points. 6 Noisemarines, champion with doomsiren and power weapon = 175. 4 of those cost 700 points. Scrap together some points elsewhere to afford 2 more rhinos for them and you're all set. Remember that if a noisemarine moves, and is within 12" of the enemy, that sonic blaster you paid for is EXACTLY the same as a regular bolter, except you can assault after firing it. That's not MUCH of an advantage, especially considering you also have pistols you can fall back on if you want to assault AND after blasting the enemy with a doomsiren [or two] they won't be in much position to fight back very well.

Would 4 with sonic blasters and one with blastmaster be effective too? i baby my noisemarines alot <3, and i do have rhinos for each 2 squads, so rush with the 5 with the siren never thought of that before might try that next game

A squad of noisemarines with a blastmaster and sonic blasters pays a LOT of points for what havocs or obliterators could do better. They're best at taking out infantry - hoping your blastmaster hits, and hoping they're within 24" to get 3 shots per guy. 4 sonic blasters and a blastmaster is 160 points for 12 S4 shots and 1 S8 blast. If the blast hits you could do a lot of damage, but if it doesn't you don't have much backup. If you move, you totally lose most of your potential.

A squad of 5 noisemarines with one of them upgraded to a champion with a doomsiren has, in my opinion, more options without wasting as many points. With a power weapon, the squad is 145 points. That S5 Ap3 flamer weapon is REALLY good at killing marines. Two things: 1) it always hits, if it's in range. 2) It IGNORES COVER. That S8 blast from the blastmaster has the potential to be good, but even with that potential, any squad in cover [easily done in 5th] cuts that effectiveness in half. Nothing saves you from a Doomsiren except a transport - not even a bunker. And unlike the sonic blaster/blastmaster squad, this squad loses nothing by being mobile.

What I like to do in BIG games where I can spare the points is take a large squad of 9 to 10 Noisemarines in a landraider. With a champion, you can have 9 guys with sonic blasters firing 18 shots and the Ap3 flamer before charging in with 3 I5 attacks each and a power weapon on the champion.

I swear up and down up on Daemon Princes. I am currently working on my Slanaash force so I'd curious on how it will turn out.

If you smell bad, take a shower before playing me. I hate when people devote too much time to something that they can't even shower.
