For skinning/detail, I use 0.5mm (020). Rivets I generally cut from rod up to 1.5mm thick.
Sheet styrene is available from my local specialist model store (does railway and ships as well) at up to 2mm thick.
This is also good, but really needs good tools to cut (like a scroll saw).
I miss my old job in the SFX workshop. I got to take home scrap pieces (roughly A4 sized offcuts). Now I have to buy it like every other schlob.
Ok... I've only worked with Plastruct sheet styrene at .060 thickness... will .040 allow me to literally "bend" the cut up sheet into the shapes I desire? .060 wants to crack
How do you internally brace? what diameter rods do you use (as I've only toyed around with glue-rivets)? Do you mind me asking these questions or are they tricks of the trade?
