Everything outflanks, Vet squads in the Valks. CCS in the vendettas. I really kind of don't like my CCS they feel useless for some reason. I feel that I have a good mix of AT and anit horde.Any critisism would be greatly appreciated. Is this list competative or a one trick pony?

I personally like it. I dont like voxs IMO why the company command Do you have to take one even with vets.

I don't have to have a CCS but I want at least one fore a few orders. I changed the list around a bit to make it more balanced added MRP to a valk in each squad and HB sponsons on the vendetta's since they'll just be firing platforms anyhow. Vox's are so my squads dont just break and run once they deploy but odds are they're meat if they're getting shot at anyhow.

Will adding voxes even help if your CCS is out of the way? They have a limited order radius, or do the voxes circumvent that?

O H I am in the Webway...

I don't know about all of those demolitions. Some bad scatters and you could end up hurting yourself more than them.

Yeah I guess I can scrap the voxes and change 2 of the vet squads to grenadiers... now I have 25 spare points. I thought vox allowed you to reroll leadership tests, I read the codex and was wrong. So what to do with 25 points?

They DO let you reroll leadership tests. I'm thinking on terms of orders, sorry >.< I'm sure they'll attack your Valks before your squads. Those missile pods are killer for horde armies. Can several Valks/Vendettas fire at once, anyhow?

Three problems,

Your vets are not focused, they are all Jack of All Trade vets and those will always dissapoint, they are below average at everything.

2 meltas is not enough to reliably hunt armor, 1 heavy flamer is not enought to reliably handle large hordes and the demo charge is not enough to reliably handle heavy infantry.

Focus your vet units and they will do much better. You have 6 transport slots, so go with 2 pure melta CCS, 3 pure melta vets, 3 plasma Heavy flamer demo vets.

The plasma HF,Demo vets are sick against both heavy and light infantry. The melta vets are cheap and rock against armor and are ok against small units of elite infantry. The Melta CCS are the best armor hunters in the game. ( "Bring it Down Baby!!!")

In an Air Cav list your CCS is not going to be giving many orders, the whole point of the army is to strike hard and fast. Your CCS is the best armor hunting unit the guard has with BID on itself and 4 meltaguns it can and will kill anything. Then die horribly so make it cheap and focused. CCS 4x melta, thats it.

Dont get caught in the old guard mindset that the CCS is there as a support unit, thats for gunline, not for Air Cav.

The storm troopers are not bad but I think they are improperly focused. 2 meltas is just enough to almost always frustrate you in an anti armor role and you have plenty of anti armor with the vets and ccs.

I recomend either using them naked or with flamers and utilize them as cheap ds objective holders who can take out those token objective holding units or with plasma as dedicated heavy infantry hunters.

The list can be competitive but it will be a very hard list to master. Air Cav is like Mech Eldar but even more fragile. You need to adopt the same playstyle of picking your fights and winning them with overwealming power then dancing back out of range.

You may get hammered in your first few attempts but I do think Air Cav lists have some potential as a middle tier competitive list.

You're going to feel some pain when you face a list with some inq/mystics =)

I agree that the vets should be focused. All melta will probably work best. If all the valks have the rocket pods and multilasers, they'll handle enemy troops. Vets handle armor, the CCS helps against tank/MCs and enemy troops in cover. I don't know if I'd mess with the heavy bolter sponsons on the valks...they slow the valk down, which is risky.

Why bring a master of the fleet? You want his stuff on the table to kill, not able to some in and hit you after you're on the table.

Maybe something a little simpler:

CCS squad:
astropath, 4 melta guns 120

CCS squad:
4 melta guns 90

5 storm troopers with 2 melta 105
5 storm troopers with 2 melta 105

10 vet, 3 melta 100
10 vet, 3 melta 100
10 vet, 3 melta 100
10 vet, 3 melta 100
10 vet, 3 melta 100

2 valks with multiple rocket pods
2 valks with multiple rocket pods
3 valks with multiple rocket pods

That comes to 1830, so you've got a few points to play around with. If your area plays that the astropath abilities stack, I'd grab another to come in on a +2.

The valks can hammer horde units easily, and cause enough wounds to force plenty of armor saves on MEQs. The HQs and vets compliment each other for busting hard targets. It's fast and fairly flexible. I dropped one of the storm trooper units to gain another vet unit...more bodies, more meltas, scoring and they can deepstrike from the valks, so they seem to work better.

After a bit of playtesting, I could see tweaking best on your environment. Maybe swap a few valks for vendettas, or make a vet squad anti-troop with flamers/heavy flamers/demos.

Nice list, Grimaldi. Going to steal that, when I bump up to that point level. Might put in more Plasma at the expense of a squad, though. MEQ in abundance near me.

lol, enough Meltas? I'd love to see a scenario with aircav and a hydra-heavy force. Anyway, Grimaldi's list is far better...use it =)

If AirCav gets first turn, I think the Hydras would be dead before they could do much. Otherwise, its Outflank and the same basic idea.
