I figured since I am a member, that at some point I should contribute and let everyone know about me.

Background: 37 year old kid, with little time to take a break, but when I do, I like to paint and starting to get into scratch building. I had originally painted for fun in high school, back in 1989. It was lots of Ral Partha and some Car Wars models, but noting really substantial.

About a month ago my son comes home from a visiting a friend with a painted ork, and is happy that he did it himself.

My son was really excited about painting, and wanting to learn Warhammer 40K, so I did what any dad would do….went halves with him on a starter set, gave him the Marines, sat down and started painting the orks.

In the process I have begun teaching him how to thin out paint, use inks and washes, basing techniques and use fine detail. For a 10 year old, he is really good. However, he still believes EVERYTHING must have blood splatter.

On the weekends I try to pick a project and all three of us work through painting, building or working on something new. Starting off easy with some simple un-based barriers made from foam-core and spackle, we have started building up a small collection, and the boys have improved their painting skills.

Now we just need to finish the models, learn the game an battle it out!

Below are some of the items I have been working on over the last month!

Currently I am scratch-building an Ork watch-tower.
