I've almost painted every model I bought. Managed to scrape together 6 heavy weapon bases and a squad of 10 , for my guard ( useing bits from tank kits heavy weapon sprues , catachans and cadian bitz I had hanging around . And ( more to the point of this post ) , I finished my converted gargoyles , painted up a retinue for my brood lord , and painted 16 spinegaunts that were left behind after the gargs were finished. So I thought I post my army on dakka , cos thats what you do here isn't it?

First up HQ , Hivy converted from the carnifex model. I tried to avoid metal as much as possible.


The brood Lord is the only metal one of course , so I like to keep some glue handy when he goes away for a fight. Here he is with is new mates.


Next up is my uberfex or godfex , loads of upgrade stuck on him , some of no real use. I think it comes in at just over 300pts. I widened the head and body to make it look a bit tougher.

And my Artillery I still think the Sniperfex is usefull. I was pleased with the pose of the one aiming his VC



My cover , speedbump and general annoyance, converted flying rippers.


Some more cover for my stealers. I will give these scuttlers or without number, depending on the need.


And for a spot of outflanking, I converted these gaunts into gargoyles, two broods of eight.




I've got four , broods of twelve genestealers. I painted them black as they are ment to be scuttlers , and sneaking arround. These ones are the old space hulk type which I count as normal , and some are the new type , with the ridged backs which I count as extended carapace.


Oh and I musn't forget Itsy and Bitsy, a pair of barbed hierodules. For some long range power.


And here are a few of the whole lot.



One thing that I did forget is i also have an old armorcast Haruspex painted up , and a malefactor yet to do.

To be honest I think they might be a bit dodgy , I got them second hand off someone and the quality is not that good. Unless FW make poor casts , I think they might be copies. Thats why I only ever play them at home with friends.
They did ok in battle , my dice rolling was rubbish , but they took a few things down, and took a lot of fire away from the carnifexes who were trashing the guard armour in cc for the fun of it.

Man i like the army. Im in the middle of making my Apoc Nids.

Oh I'd love a Heirophant. I think after I've finished the Malefactor, the only thing left to get would be the plastic trygon ,( or two ) , when they come out. Have you painted that endless swarm yet. I've seen some nice pictures of one competed on "The Tyranid Hive", Assembling and painting 120 of the same model, thats realy got to mess with your head!

Ive got just over half of the swarm built. Still need the hormagaunts. The Heirophant is gonna take me forever to finish considering the base im making is gonna be a giant ripper swarm with shooting marines and skeletons.

Now that I got to see. You will need a lot of rippers. Maybe you shoud start an appeal for ripper donations.

the models look good but the pics are super grainy so its hard to see the detail you've put on them

Ive been buying all i can get on ebay and i have a b/s/t thread here on dakkadakka.

im guessing i need about 2 thousand, cause i want it to be atleast 2 rippers high

Those are some aggressive bugs, great work, especially the winged rippers.

I would send them into the GW IP department, they if they are fakes and you tell them were you got them they will send you brand new real ones. If they are not fake then there is a high chance that they will send you some that are not badly cast.

Its worth a shot =)

While it may be a pain in the ass to repaint them, if you end up with two real ones in the end I think it would be worth it.

Now that is interesting. I shall consider it for the future. But I think I'll stick with these. I'm not so burned up about it that I want to rebild and paint them again. Cheers for the info anyway!

That is seriously great work, dude.

Been away for the weekend and came back to a lot of great comments. Thanks to all for that. I'm gonna post the rest of my armies soon , and put them in my gallery. It's always good to be able to check peoples comments with their work.

Yes the names are a bit suspect, malefactor _ a criminal or wrongdoer , Dactylis_ a comman grass , Exocrine_ secretion through a duct , haruspex_ A priest in ancient Rome who practiced divination by the inspection of the entrails of animals. Domnatrix_ gets you some interesting results too!
