So, I've been ignoring my Reaver project in order to get this army based and ready for a Fantasy army. However, as you can see from the pics....I made custom bases to accommodate my round bases. Would you have an issue with playing an army based in this manner? (Sorry for the quality of the pics, taken in a bit of a rush with low light)

That round thing in the middle of the Thirster base is a rare earth magnet, as Thirster has a hole drilled with a corresponding magnet in his base. I can pick him up by his wing that way...and not leave a base laying on the table!

I don't know much about fantasy, but if those square bases are all the correct size for the fantasy daemons, I would absolutely play against that. It looks fantastic and is exactly what I suggested when someone posed a question about how to make dual-purpose daemons. They talked about magnetizing the models themselves and having two separate bases for everything, and though I attempted to be a voice of reason, they didn't take to the idea that I presented (the one you showed works fantastically)

If the bases end up to measure at 25mmx5 : 125mm wide , then 100% yes its perfectly fine to use it.

If its not, then hmm.....

dunno add a poll option?

Well, there are no 'markings' per say on the bases. You just have to estimate who is in base to base with whom (Which, I of course give the benefit of the doubt to my opponent each time!). They do work out as larger though I'm sure, as normally you can (and should) run Letters 6 wide...but if I did that it would be clear one would lack base to base.

The Thirster base is also larger.

So, considering the above...how big of a deal is that? Still play it...? Look ok?

Well, with that much work put into it (obviously so they can be used in WHFB and 40k) you are not doing it to gain any gaming advantage.
So yes, i would allow it 100%

Also, great bases

you know you can fit 25 mm circles and 40 mm circles on top of square bases of the same size...?

or, a person i know just puts his circle bases on movement trays of the correct size, with out any spacing between em

Absolutely I would play against that. It shows a time and dedication to the game, and if you are off a few millimeters, who cares?

Especially when it looks that good!

Heck, no. They're Daemons! Why would I want to play against them?

Very pretty. If you figured out the basing thing, or just let me charge you with
multiple squads where I couldn't before, it'd be cool

They look absolutely great, I'd play them every time I had the chance even if I'm going to get destroyed.

Knowing that round bases are 25mm diameter and that square bases are 25mm each side, your unit bases make the units slightly bigger than usual because your round bases are separated when square bases are not. However, when we build moving bases, we make the units bigger too (the edges that retain the minis into the base), so I think that it would be ok for me.

I would allow it

Nice way to save some money in a expensive hobby.

Edit: By the way, I don't know in WFB, but in 40k the rules say you can make the model's bases larger, but never smaller. I guess it is the same for WFB, so I'm pretty sure that it would be legal.

Those are some VERY nice bases.. I've been thinking of doing something similar for my Chaos Demon bases so that I could play them in fantasy if I can find someone to play with.
I had been planning on using this technique, which uses metal washers which can be attached by magnets to either size of base, but this looks like it might be a simpler way to get the same effect, albeit with the square bases being slightly larger than normal.

I'd definitely play against your army, albeit very slowly as I kept stopping to admire your handiwork

I,as well, would have no problem playing you if you wanted to use those bases. As stated above, movement trays by themselves make the unit bigger. I see your bases as being little different , tactically, so I think it should be fine.

Yha id play against them. As some one said above when we make movement trays we make the units a bit bigger. so I would nto have any problem with it what so ever.

Wouldn't have a problem with it at all, in fact in my mind it looks like it might disadvantage you more because you've made your fantasy bases a little bigger.

The bases, and models, however are excellent.

Thanks for the compliments/replies. I had no issues during the tournament with my bases (I simply gave the benefit of the doubt to the other player each time it came up). The most common problem was the large bases on my Crushers hindered their movement, which was a + to my opponents!

I did win the tourney with that army setup though! I'll have to post some b-reports on my games. Thanks again.

Everytime I see something from your army, I just think...man that looks great. I don't play fantasy, but that seem slike a very creative solution.
