Really, we need an Obama on the cover again? 17th time in a less than 6 month time span. One could gather that maybe TIME magazine has a major hard-on for the Obamas. Historic is becoming cliche, but maybe I've missed something?

Obama is the new god, savior of human kind.

Thus his presence should grace the cover of Times Magazine every issue , anything less will be asking for divine punishment.

TIME magazine does not hold near the influence it did 5 years ago. With the rise of blogging, print magazine have started to lag behind. Poo on TIME.

Well, some of us would rather he stop destroying our country and let it stabilize a bit.

A Good political figure should NOT be a media figure. I don't want to hear about them. I want them to do their ELECTED job and stay behind the scenes, not be a media darling.

The old consipracy theory was that Time magazine was a front for the CIA.

So, either: 1) The CIA doesn't really control Time; or 2) The CIA is using Obama-mania to distract the American public from the real issues (like terrorists getting nukes, the CIA running prisons outside the US, the CIA torturing people, etc.).

I think the answer is 1. But I'm not positive about it.

Uh, when has a president not been a media figure? Granted Obama has a bit more spotlight than previous presidents, but the leaders of countries typically have loads of media attention. Give Obama sometime to figure stuff out, he was given a pooball for an economy and the housing market kinda contributed to that. Not saying that he's done everything perfect (i believe that he's chosen a poo cabinet) but he's certainly working on it and the man is quite smart.

I want to know of one effective political figure in history who wasn't a media figure as well? He has to be accessible, or he falls into the ranks of those previous presidents who were seen as too private and gruff.

I don't have an issue with him taking the time to pose (or accept the offer to be) on the cover. It's just the fact that there is apparently no other person or subject that TIME is focusing on. I do realize that a cover does not represent the contents, but you are setting the tone for the issue. As I stated earlier historic is becoming cliche.

Time is a business, you can bet good money they track which covers sell and which do not.

It's the same reason Jessica Alba is on a lot of covers.

Besides, would you rather look at Dick Cheney?

I should have thought it was important for someone who wants people to vote for him to publicise himself to those people.

I rember having to watch a half-hour news story on him and his family while they selected a dog,it was rather boring. Also I think I must have seen more of his wife than he has,as every second day I get reminded how awesome her fashion sense is.

Akso while we are talking about media, why the hell does CNN remind us they have a Twitter page every five minutes!!!!

Because that's the "in" thing and If CNN know's anything, about anything it's about being hip and modern. Why do you think they hired Anderson Cooper?

So far, all he seems to have done is make a load of very noble, but vague sounding statements, and fly around the world shaking hands.

When I see him do something, I'll be able to judge whether he's worth the media attention or not.

I for one welcome our new Leader and am shocked, just shocked that you would object to His Holiness' image gracing the covers of Time 17 times.

The man sells. And time needs all the money they can get.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole
