Do you have any pics of ur favorite model, i don't quite understand what you mean when you describe it.

Yea i'm at work right now, the models were all stripped of paint last week so its grey right now. Basically though it's a special edition female commisar with the sword cut off and a small chain added in place leading to a GS collars on 2 slave models. Just think of the old picture of the Space Wolves dood with 2 hounds on a chain. Not quite sure if it will be an allowed model though even though all parts are GW since it is a 3 base model.

Anyways, any comments or critique on the list? I'm gonna have my first match Saturday.

I always take vets and platoons, so good work there. take a master of ordanance( i think thats what hes called, dont have my codex to hand) instead of the astropath. And really do you need 2 hydras, i dont think that they're that good, especially with the lack of flyers right now, maybe in an apoc army but replace them with leman russ of some variety, you need more anti-tank in my opinion.

Hydras are 4TL AC shots at 72" range. There are a plethora of MEQs at my LGS... Most are Rhino and dred addicts. Figure the range and almost guaranteed hit chance would save my poor guardsmen. Although it does put me at a disadvantage against hordes and AV14, I did think about having a Medusa with BBS. I have no russ models and scratch building a chim is only a 1 day affair.

Well in that situation i would agree with your choice, if your going to be playing mainly MEQs you could swap some of the mortars with autocannons, they have better anti armour, and if you retain some mortars you get the best of both worlds.

Well after a very rough match I think i'm going to change my list a tad bit, we played on a short table taking the range factor out... Turn one saw both Hydras and my Vendetta destroyed. Turn two was better with me taking out 3 MCs and dropping Marbo down finishing off a Dakkaflyrant. Turn three marbo defeated a lictor in h2h and took out 9 genestealers with his demo charge, my valk drawing almost all of the enemy fire only surviving by staying mobile. Turn four was devastation with only my mortars left as scoring units... Marbo defeating a Ninjafex in h2h though!! In the end it was a draw with 1 objective to 1 objective. It was 40k in 40 minutes simple rules, 2 objectives, on a 24" table.

Although I learned a few valuable lessons... Marbo really is a 1 man army accounting for 2 MCs a whole unit of stealers and a lictor. The CCS meltas + a veteran following close firing 7 TL meltas is a really really sick combo, and the PBS is a great unit that brings a psychological aspect to an army. Oh, and you cannot rely on AV12.

Pretty much just gonna trade the hydras for a demolisher and I might drop the infantry for a LRBT. Any thoughts? I am using my phone to type this response the list will be updated tonight after work.

You will always need infantry, my army is based around them and with 5th ed rules you need scoring units so i will be taking as many as possible, hope you had fun with your game, next time play the same list against a marine force, it may work better there, what on earth in a tyranid army destroyed your tank and vendetta in a single turn.

A sniperfex and a boomfex on side armor, AV10 is paper... Also with such a close deployment his Dakkafex had a free shot at my enormous Vend from turn 1. Like I said it was a small small board and in order to get all my guys on the table I couldn't be choosy where I deployed. It really favored him, but what ya gonna do... It was still a fun match. My tau crushed everyone.

Well fair enough then.

Trying to stay in the theme of an independant Rogue Trader or a Hive world gang. Industrial bases. Trying to stick with speedy units to stay within my fluff.

Surprisingly on matches when the legion isn't outflanking they make a killer footslogger with my PCS, and dropping the small SWS squads with double pie plates is a killer to take an objective fast.

Looks fair enough, im not a fan of special weapon squads right now, why not take another unit of vets and give them 3 special wepons, im not sure how that will fit in with you points limit but its a suggestion

Your platoon needs to have at least two normal squads in it...

I've seen this before, but the idea of a SWT with a democharge tumbling out of a Valk is hysterical to me.

I'm just imaginging a big bomb with six guardsmen riding it AKA Dr. Strangelove falling out the back of the Valklyre

There ya go I edited the list. Gained a valk but took out my legion and CCS.

Oh and you would be surprised how many people flip when you drop 2 pie plates and a template on them after dropping out the back of a valk going flat out.

I'm trying man. I order most everything from Wayland Games though so it takes a while. I still have to find 10 cadian bodies, 10 catachan legs, meltas, and 2 pred lascannon sponsons... Gotta go check out FW I guess, my kit bashing obsession is gonna make me go broke.

Maybe I should start a thread in the modeling forum. I can GS pretty well and have nice designs but my painting lacks real skill.

[edit] Think anyone would be angry if I modeled some of my Tau parts on the models? I have 60 or so unassembled Fire Warriors. Blaster counts-as lasgun and fusion counts-as melta? Could save me a ton of time and would fit well into the fact that they are traders and would have unapproved gear.

Yea that was what I was thinking Scourge. TFG always likes to bitch about something. I know one of the red shirts at the GW nearest me told me to change the autoguns on my Escher models because it isn't an option for IG anymore...

Thts Gay. seriosly redshirts really annoy me, i went into my local gw and asked how much of my army needed to be painted for me to play, he said all my models needed to be at least undercoated, then i went in the next week wth them and he wouldnt let me play, even though they where al undercoated, it really anoyed me.
