Worked out pretty OK I think. This was mostly just done to familiarize me with how the new paints worked and to see what a "tabletop standard" mini would look like in the flesh.
Foundations is -awesome-! I remember back in the days when you had to buy 3 pots of Blood Red, only to have one that covered things pretty neatly. But then you still had to paint a gazillion layers of it for it to really be red.
The new inks, well, they rock.

So anyhow, any C&C is appreciated.

(I figured out that the paints need a bit more thinning, and can be thinned more without losing it's ability to cover properly, somewhere in the end of painting it.)

I think it looks good. It might be the photo or that's the actual color of the mini, but the colors are a little washed out. The ork's skin looks like a lighter shade of the pants.

Well the muscle memory is still there!!!

It's the mini, I wanted the colors to be a little de-saturated. More LOTR-ork than classical WH40K-ork. (But still more WH40K ork )

For a first mini i am impressed, i remember my first mini's

Personally I really like the shade of the skin, its not the bright green alot of people use but its got hints of it, makes it look war beaten i think

And the whole mini has that dirty as hell ork look heh

I love your olive green Orks , the usual florescent orks are abit too cartoony for me.

love it - it's got a realistic fealing pallete.
only crit - the eyes could do with some colour to make 'em stand out & be a focal point.

Very nice. I like the desaturated colours, they always work well for orks. They are dulled down enough to look real but the red still pops.

i really like it to me it looks like a desert weathered ork fightin in like the arid terrain

you might wanna but a bit more green on his skin or people are going to be constantly asking if they're really orks

Great paint job but I think need make the eyes stand out more, other then that I like it ^-^

It looks pretty good. You might want to widen your color palette for each mob, just so it's easier to tell them apart, but you're off to a good start.

Any tips on making the eyes stand out properly? I had a hard time figuring out how to do it. I really wanted them to "glow".

As for now it's a "huge" blob Malachrite Red, that I then washed with Badab Black to add definition. Vallejos Gory Red on top of that and then a tiiiiiny dot of some of the yellows I bought.

The eyes on this model is pretty small though, some of the other heads on the sprues have much larger eyes. That might be why?

Oh, and I see now that the title was a little too misleading. This isn't my first mini. It's just my first mini in like 12 years or something.

I must say, that's my favorite skin tone out of all the Orks I've seen painted. Overall, an amazing mini... I wish I could do that good on my first try (which I didn't)

It's really nice to see that the muscle-memory still is there. Its almost like learning to paint once again, I discover all the little tricks and stuff and smile a little when painting.

Anyhow, the reason why I posted the photo… THE EYES!
This time it was just a plain blob of Gory Red (Vallejo), looks a little "glowier". Yes/No? (The ork on the right is kinda the only one that got proper lightning on his face in this photo.)

(Now it's only 15 more to go. And then I can start on the next mob! I really have to look into this dipping-thingie. )

I like the red,yellow pattern on the ork on the lefts shoulder pad.

Good stuff, definately a great start for first models.

I personally dont really bother with making my eyes stand out on an ork, I think that an orks eyes would either be a red shade or black

got to be careful with eyes, too little and they arent there...too much and theyve had waaaay too much coffee if you know what I mean
