Well with my Stormlord built, I wanted mine to look important; the centre stone of my army. I though of using some artillery crew fomr my Dkok, and placing them on the hull of the tank draping a flag over the tanks hull to show its importance.

Although i like this idea i am unsure if it would fit the look of the Stormlord.

What do you think?

Cheers

P.S here is a pic of the tank in question.

So, are you going to paint this al lneat, clean, and shiny for Parade Day on Emperor's Square? I don't see an Arty crew taking the time to drape a flag on a tank on the front lines. Plus, if this is a fighting vehicle and it was that important, I doubt the Commander would want to "show its importance".

Just like not saluting officers at the front. Makes them a target.

Yeah thats a good point, and sorry I thoguht that included the crew on the tank, I may just drape the flag over the tank and make it battle torn etc, I would update ideas today but I have a busy schedule, the room is being cleared out for redocaration.

So i'll get the ideas up as soon as I can.

Space Marines carry flags, banners, purity seals, etc. all the time. I don't see why an IG unit wouldn't take the time for a small piece of customization that won't hinder combat. I like the idea of having a flag or two draped on your tank. There's a post in the tutorial section on using paper to make a cloth simulation, the example is more specific for canvas/tarp, but it could be useful for your project.

Well during WW2 the germans draped the rear part of some their tanks with a flag to help the luftwaffe identify the tanks and to prevent friendly fire from the air.

And i think it would look nice on the stormlord to.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

You will be better off with a flown flag than a draped flag, besides Ghidorah is doubly wrong, not only is flag flying good in 40K, but command tanks of some armies traditionally flew pennants for command control purposes. German tank commanders used to wave a pair of pennants, or tall paddles to direct the movement of his column. Other armeis have flown pennants to show the command tank, sometimes in battle others in parade.

Just like helmetless officers and heroic poses, the commander miniature is most likely painted up these are the propoganda images, just like Napoleon Bonaparte on his rearing horse before his men. Did Boney do this in battle? Likely not often, he would be at the back and usually on foot.

My Reaver titan is going to get a huge banner, and yes Ghidorah they enemy can see it!!

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

The Germans were not the only ones in WW2 to drape flags across their tanks; I have seen camera footage of Italians doing the same thing. In the DKoK army list it indicates that you can take some marauder bombers with your army, so I can see how this would be possible.

Of more importance though, is would it LOOK cool. After all, its not as if we are dealing with a subject matter that has a basis in fact lol.
