Subject: Smokey Mountaineers to invade Afghanistan
special ops teams trained for mountain terrain fighting are scheduled to air drop into the Afghanistan mountain ranges. The soldiers were selected from Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia. Reportedly Bin Laden is worried and possibly considering a truce.

Huh, it sounds just horrible enough to be a cult classic, guess I am going to have to rent it now.
Also sounds like that series where Australia got invaded and a bunch of teenagers hiding out in a ravine team up with New Zealand Spec Ops to fight the invaders. (in the first book they kill their first evild dudes by blowing up a barbeque!)

Actually when Red Dawn first came out it, was during the latter days of the Cold War, and in the context of the times it was a really good movie. (especially for a young person, like I was at the time.)
However when you watch it now, it just seems so rediculous. Knowing what I know now about our defense system, there is absolutley no way Russian Paratroopers would have made it anywhere near our borders, let alone Cubans.

I remember watching Red Dawn when it came out in the theater. Just remember when watching it, the Cold War was still in full effect, and the fear of the Great Red Army unleashing nuclear hell upon us was still very strong. It was a different time.

I think that what you are seeing here is a case of how somebody was raised to view these things.
I myself know several people that consider labels like Hillbilly, Redneck, ect ect to be just as bad/offensive as say "K"oon, or Ni Double Ger.
Plus on a side note GBF, anytime you want to call a Spec Ops Soldier HillBilly to his face, send me a Pm and Ill give you a name and address so you can do a face to face.... though I cannot guarantee yours will be in one piece when you are finished. They tend to not like the stereotypes.
